Abortion

That gives them the right to pass laws for inside their own borders.
And leaving the state to commit a crime in another state originates in the state they live in.
Let's see, illegal to buy gas for you car with the intent of traveling to another state to commit a crime.
If they can pass a law that an embryo has the same rights as I do they can make nearly anything they want illegal

so buying gas in a "dry" county in order to get an alcoholic drink in a "wet" county can be made against the law.

got it.

The crime that supposedly happens in the state in this case would be planning a trip with the purpose of having an abortion. Iirc, Ireland had a similar law at one point. Not sure where they are now.

Some countries have similar laws regarding sex tourism. A norwegian is not legally allowed to travel abroad in order to see prostitutes. Now, the Government still has to prove that Harald went to Berlin with the main purpose to visit the world's largest brothel, and not to drink bier and pee in the Spree. But at least in theory it's a crime.

National interest versus individual's rights.
I wonder if that's a factor contributing too. Not just the conservative stance on the ethics of abortion or squable over taxpayers funding abortions.

Western countries are in an existential crisis due to declining birth rates.
Even Putin is trying to get the Church on his side to outlaw abortions.

The birth rate in the US has dropped drastically since 2007, to levels comparable to The Great Depression in 1930.
Which led some to believe that it's due to a decline in standards of living. Others don't think so.

Good.
Considering that states pass laws all the time that are unconstitutional. Like the one just signed in to law in Georgia.

Something like 88% of all abortions are first trimester. Abortions occuring after 12 weeks are rare to begin with.

I was thinking about the aerobics instructor whose abdominal wall was so tight she accidently crushed the skull of her fetus at seven months. Under Alabama law she'd be charged with murder.

Ask AJ. He was unable to procreate on his own ("had a fever when he was young" ) He and his squaw wanted to adopt, but US babbies were too problematic, so he spent 10 grand buying his daughter from a for-profit Chinese orphanage (this was back when China had its one-child policy, and undesirable females were dumped on "orphanages")
yes, indeed

that really happened? dear lord, can't imagine how she'd feel knowing that :(

a: i don't ask aj anything. i don't read his posts but if i do a vanity search using my name, you can be sure it's in his posts frequently.

b: don't give a shit about his impotence

c: don't be a fuckwad calling his wife 'squaw'. i know there's a lot of history between aj and the both of us, but i refuse to condone that term or bringing his wife into his bullshittery, thankyou

d: adoption is an awesome responsibility, and i admire (most) who adopt. don't care where they adopted from... a baby in need of parents is a baby in need of parents. having said that, i'm sure there are millions of american-born babies who could have used that adoption and the 10 grand could have been put towards good use in their upbringing but the choices of individuals to adopt from abroad if they so choose still means a child gets adopted. i also know you bring up that point because of his stands on abortion, responsibility and immigration - but decided not to adopt an american child.

So knobydownunder; are you an abortion gone bad?

That was really cool and classy.

Contrary to what he thinks, I actually like Rob. He's funny and not worse than me or others, on a board on which mean-spiritted comments are the norm.

But his digs at people's families or personal issues are awful.

So ry; you seem to have a good handle on the two state criminology thing. Was it you I read about? You remember don't you? you had one foot in one state and the other foot in another state when you stuck your head up your ass; didn't you get nailed for illegal interstate transportation of stupidity?

his mean-spirited comments are generally reserved for those who have said as bad and worse to him. he does what he does and i usually refrain from bothering to call him out on it since i have before but he doesn't answer to me or anyone else here. personally, i don't give a shit what he says about other posters here who have used pictures of his deceased mother as their avatar or lie through their teeth every day or are racist fuckwits. unless the spouses or children of posters use this forum as well, they're not fair game.

I had no idea that horrible thing happened.
Although I can't judge without seeing the context, who nudged who first.

A lot of the insults and 'mean-spiritt-ism' in this forum don't bother me.
Probably because I'm sufficiently self-aware re my own bad behaviors.

But attacks on family members, asking a person undergoing cancer treatment to die a painful death and similar things make my skin crawl.

Most of the rhetoric is pretty funny, but unless you lost a family member to cancer it's hard to understand the pain. That is despicable, some people will stoop to deprave rhetoric to win a argument.

no-one's knowingly blasted mann as a true cancer sufferer/survivor - a whole lot of people simply do not believe his shit about it (for good reason) and THAT offends them because lying about it is as offensive as it gets when they've lost real people to the disease

It really did happen, it was a few years back when some states instituted complete bans on third trimester abortions.
Poor woman couldn't get any doctor to remove a rotting fetus from her uterus in her state. She had to find another doctor, in another state, willing to take on a seven-month pregnant patient. She eventually did find one, but in my opinion that's simple Trump-level cruelty.

a: i don't ask aj anything. i don't read his posts but if i do a vanity search using my name, you can be sure it's in his posts frequently.

I can honestly say that you are perhaps the only person on this board AJ despises more than me....that's quite an accomplishment. And all you said was "Haitians are humans too". :D

Oh, and he's not impotent. He fires blanks. If you count his five year stint as a bouncer at the gay bar The Mine Shaft in Kansas City, he's probably had more bed partners than you and I put together.

c: don't be a fuckwad calling his wife 'squaw'. i know there's a lot of history between aj and the both of us, but i refuse to condone that term or bringing his wife into his bullshittery, thankyou
I know you don't like it when I do that, a lot of people don't. Your disgust is duly noted.

AJ is the worst kind of pro-lifer, he doesn't do support anti-abortion measures for any moral or religious reasons, he supports them because he says women are inferior to men.

He wanted to purchase a "perfect child", couldn't find one out of thousands of children available for adoption in America (The height of irony: mixed-race AJ wanted an ethnically pure kid....self-loathing much?). Then Russia shut down their international orphanages which limited AJ to China.

it is cruel, and life-threatening to her. where was the medical profession's responsibility to her then? damn....

i have quite a list - must be doing something right when the likes of those despise me :D

i meant impotent in as unable to father a child or change that situation. and - very likely though i've only had 4 so it's not a very high score to beat :p

I know you don't like it when I do that, a lot of people don't. Your disgust is duly noted.
and you know i mostly ignore it, as i ignore the shit the bb's throw, the aj's and others of his "elk" *snerk* though mostly because they are on ignore. i just think you are better than that and so i give in and voice the opinion now and again. and don't expect it to change a thing even if i hoped it would *oy*

seems most men who are insecure in themselves like to step on a woman's back to raise themselves off the dirt floor, so they may look down on her from their "elevated" position. pieces of shit.

i wouldn't wish any child to have the ignominy of being his child

Interesting, Rob. Yes, I don't really think he LIKES women like that. I have seen no indication of him desiring women in his postings, but like many rightist men of his era, things have to be kept "in the closet".

The "queen" comes out often his in posting styles. :)

His "wife" is simply his nurse soothing his sore knees and changing his bed pan in his twilight years.

Butters, I've been saying the same thing, if Deplorables dislike you, then you are doing something right! :D

These 25 Republicans – all white men – just voted to ban abortion in Alabama

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/14/alabama-abortion-ban-white-men-republicans

They've obviously been pregnant and given birth and are demonstrating the breadth and depth of their experience and knowledge.

It's so comforting to see our legislators acting in accordance with their own personal beliefs and ignoring the medical and scientific community. It's not like doctors know anything right?
