Having the honor of being one of the winners of the April Fools contest was enough of a prize for me, but I'm curious to ask because I couldn't find any information on what happens next.

How do contest winners either claim the prize money or nominate an organization to which it could be donated?

I figured I'd ask here before bothering Laurel with a private message.

Thanks, everybody!

It's been while since I placed, so this is a brain strain. I think I received a message (email or PM, I can't remember) that told me what to do.

At this point, you should just PM Laurel and get things straightened out.

Pm Laurel with the competition name and that you were one of the winners in the pm subject. The email address you used to register for Literotica should have received an email. You can only communicate to Laurel by pm and she is the only Laurel. Use the user id in the thread she started to reply to to make sure you have the right one. If you don’t hear back, post here again.

I've had the prize money I won in contests donated to PEN International. However, last time Laurel said it was too much of a hassle but she has a list if approved organisations that she can donate to. Here's her reply to which organisations she's ok with:
"Off the top of my head, these are some of ones we regularly support that would be of interest to authors and readers:
https://www.eff.org/
http://cbldf.org/
https://www.aclu.org/ "
There may be others but you better ask. Personally, I think it's a shame PEN is off the list.

You can’t just accept the winnings then send them to PEN yourself?

Nope. Cash is only an option for US authors. And some writers are somewhat paranoid about linking bank accounts to erotica writing.

I PM-ed Laurel. Thank you, everybody!

I'd never heard of PEN International. It looks wonderful.

I like them for their work promoting freedow of the written word. It's an issue all erotica writers should care about. We will be easy targets in future culture wars.

Laurel was so kind as to email the prize via Amazon as I requested! Thanks again, everybody. Happy writing!
