I suddenly have seat belt envy.

Well my seat belt is pretty awesome. they way it sits there being all gray and shit, and how even though it is 22 years old, it still does its job well. and it fits well even though I am one of those women who sit way too close to the steering wheel. You'd think that I was like 4ft 10in tall lol. yeah, my seat belt is pretty awesome.

well at least when I spill my drink on it, I am not contributing to its under aged drinking lol.

I am a bit of a nervous driver. the fact that I can not control every aspect of every car annoys me I guess. As a teen, I had a driving instructor for one lesson, her remarks were "I will see you back when you are 40 and divorced" Well, I didn't avoid driving like she predicted but I do cope by exercising extreme control over what I can. Using specific roads for their width, traffic, and light patterns. Going on roads I know or always using gps and having back up maps, having my station or my music, seat and mirrors just right, choosing sedans etc etc. I can vary things when I need to, but if I have to drive a van, it will only be to places I know with my music, etc. Anyway, I think the close seat is a habit that started by feeling the need to actually see the end of the front of the car to make sure I knew exactly where it was and where it ended. I suspect if the seats of my original cars were higher in relation to the frame, I may not have developed the habit. Then factor in some of my cars not having power steering. Well .that takes a fuck ton of effort to turn the wheel, and it is easier when you are closer to it.

Then it became habit, just how my seats should be, so it is just uncomfortable to me to not have it close. Kind of like I never honk my horn in quick situations. I spent so many years driving cars with broken horns, I don't even think of it as an option. My only option was evade, or get hit. So yeah, I don't even think about honking if someone is about to back in to me. It is like in my head in a split second, cars don't have horns.
