"I have asked China to immediately remove all Tariffs on our agricultural products (including beef, pork, etc.) based on the fact that we are moving along nicely with Trade discussions," he tweeted Friday, adding, "and I did not increase their second traunch of Tariffs to 25% on March 1st. This is very important for our great farmers - and me!"

In other words, the people the con artist said he'd help are howling at their huge losses and increasing rate of bankruptcies. Even the corporate welfare he handed out, to the tune of $12 billion taxpayer dollars, didn't make a dent in the staggering losses American farmers, particularly soybean farmers, are suffering thanks to the con artist's easily winnable trade war.

Needless to say, after his second fail talks with North Korea, the con artist keeps claiming he's winning even though the dictator Kim Jong Un got exactly what he wanted: another photo op.

The con artist then went on to contradict himself when he said China doesn't want a massive nuclear arsenal next door. Only a month ago the con artist said he knew more than his intelligence agencies when they said North Korea was still working on its nuclear program. At that time the con artist said the intelligence community didn't know what they were talking about, that he knew everything going on in North Korea and their nuclear program had stopped.

He got the farm vote. They got hosed. Karma, baby, karma.

This. Any who were stupid enough to vote for him on what they knew he was before he ran (which includes several of my extended family members) can just howl into the void.

Soybean farmers, government funded farmers......government employees.

This is why it's stupid to trust the government with your financial security of your market access.

Independent farmers don't have this problem :D

You guys make a great case against socialism.

Because his trade war is so easy to win, the con artist is coughing up an additional $20 billion in taxpayer money to keep propping up farmers who are on the verge of bankruptcy.

China is the world’s top soybean importer, and for the second year in a row there is little prospect that it will buy much U.S. soy after an escalation in a trade war that has left U.S. farmers sitting on record volumes of crops.
. . .
China bought some 60% of U.S. soy exports in 2017 but curbed purchases last year when U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese goods, prompting China to retaliate with tariffs on U.S. soy, pork, corn and other products.
. . .
The USDA said on Monday that 49% of the U.S. corn crop has been planted, the slowest pace on record, based on data going back to 1980. Soybeans were 19% planted.

Such winning.

Does that mean more or less corn squeezins to pollute gasoline?

Thoughts and prayers (and nothing else) for the farmers who voted for Trump.

“That tweet cost me $40,000,” Shane Goplin,
a farmer in Wisconsin told @PatcohenNYT,
explaining that the price of a bushel of soybeans
plunged by more than 10 cents after
Individual Goon #1) threat to impose
tariffs on China appeared.

Planting the Seeds of a Story With Farmers in the Midwest

We talked about weather cycles, commodity prices, tariffs
and Trump. Then we drove off to the next field.

So, who did Shane Goplin vote for for president in 2016? afraid I have to know that before deciding how much sympathy to give him.

China has requested to lease 50,000 hectares (approximately 123,552 acres) for soy production in Russia's Far East. It also wants to build a soy processing plant with a capacity of up to 240,000 tons per year.

Land in Russia is much cheaper than in China, explains Vladislav Novoselov, managing director of the BEFL consulting company. As a result, Chinese farmers are flowing into Russia’s Amur province, Khabarov Krai and Primorsky Krai. These farms will be operated by Chinese personnel using Chinese technology, and most of the products will be sold in China.

Who needs U.S. soybeans when you can grow your own?

While not China, India is now imposing 70% tariffs on U.S. apples, almonds, lentils and certain chemical products.

The country had put off imposing tariffs for a year as negotiations were under way, but due to the con artist's imposition of tariffs on Indian steel and aluminum products, they were forced to retaliate.

India has an insignificant trade surplus with the U.S., approximately $21 billion. The value of the tariffs was not mentioned, but when India filed with the World Trade Organization, they claimed a value of around $241 million.

The tariffs go in effect on Sunday, June 16th.

I wonder if Trump included his fireworks shows in the negotiations.

I wonder if Trump included his fireworks shows in the negotiations.

I'm sort of waiting to see how his July 4th extravaganza will go, as reports are that he neglected to tell anyone to actually organize it.

Looks like gubbmint farming is still a TERRIBLE idea and farmers with their head out of their ass will no longer be planting soy....those who keep theirs buried in a warm, dark, smelly spot won't be farmers for much longer

Lumpy makes the mistake of believing the Chinese like him, as per his fantasy self imaged life.

He has lost touch with reality and needs to be put down. :(

Trade wars are easy to win!
I guess he believed it when he said it but everyone else knew he was only fooling himself.
So... Does trump still have that charlatan Navarro reading chicken entrails for him and setting the trade policy? I would have thought the chosen one would have seen him off by now.
