Trump cuts short North Korea summit after dispute over sanctions: 'Sometimes you have to walk'

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/tr...n-north-korea-leading-to-abrupt-end-to-summit

For once, Trump's attempt at counter-programming failed when the summit with Kim Jong Un broke up early with no agreement. It left the North Korea initiative -- on which Trump has played huge political capital -- in doubt.
The President's repeated insistence going in, for instance, that he was in "no rush" to get a deal may have undercut his own negotiating strategy.
Trump tried to play down the collapse of the summit, saying that Kim had agreed to maintain his halt to missile and nuclear tests.
"This wasn't a walk away like you get up and walk out," Trump told reporters of the end of the summit.

STFU. You don't know what you're talking about. This may turn out to be the correct course of action and turn inta a big success. And, you would have complained either way, so shove it.

it's a news story, son. not like he made it up.

Let us know if trump ever actually does what he says he is going to do. All these failures are getting tiring.

I read some of the back and forth between you all and I marvel at the silly ideas andcomments and ideals you all espouse. I am almost certain it is not heart felt, but rather an attempt to get a rise out of the other side. At least I hope it is.

Granny out

do you have an opinion on the thread topic?

I do not look at this as a failure, and here is why.

Trump really, really, really, really wanted a political win right now.

However, his own intelligence services appointees were telling him that Kim had not halted their nuclear development program and had no intention of giving it up. Up to now, Trump had been consistently blowing off American intelligence community assessments.

So, they got over to Vietnam, and thank God, Pompeo convinced Trump not to take the deal Kim wanted.

I give Trump some credit for listening to Pompeo.

StrongHorse Trump drives the bus, the others hang on

don't forget that trump's attempts to oust maduro with sanctions have also failed. :)

Well at least Trump didn't totally fuck up and we're footing the bill for their nuclear program.. Like the wall.

What are the chances that Trump was so upset about the Cohen hearing that he couldn't continue #winning in Vietnam?

Yes. I think walking away from this summit is a good move.

Not walking to it would've been a better move. Should've stuck to his regular work schedule of monitoring Foxnews.

In any negotiation the most powerful tool you have is the willingness to say. "No" and get up and walk away from the table. There are a few that have posted in this thread that understand that basic principle, then there are the partisan morons.

Your problem is that you're too partisan to know why it was a failure.

I am disappointed in the world at large for not providing me with an appropriate executive time gif. :(
