Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard officially declares 2020 candidacy

U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard, an Iraq War veteran who at times has had a spiky relationship with the Democratic Party, on Saturday added another liberal voice to a burgeoning field of candidates seeking the party’s 2020 presidential nomination.

Gabbard, 37, officially launched her candidacy in Hawaii, where she has served as a congresswoman since 2013. A Samoan-American, she was the first Hindu elected to Congress.

She told the crowd gathered she was running against “powerful, self-serving politicians and greedy corporations,” and vowed to restore “dignity, honor and respect to the presidency.”

“Join me in putting this spirit of service above self at the forefront and stand up against the forces of greed and corruption,” she said.

Gabbard made headlines in 2016 by quitting a leadership post at the Democratic National Committee over the party’s decision to limit the number of debates between presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, a move analysts said helped Clinton.

She then endorsed Sanders for president, becoming one of the few members of Congress to do so. She remains popular with some progressives but will have serious competition on that front with candidates such as Senators Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren in the presidential field.

I look forward to seeing Tulsi, Liz, and Kamala debate, to see which flavor of Progressive will sink the Trumpster!

"Combat Veteran" alone is a terrific draw for me. People who have known combat, land, sea or air, possess a knowledge that cannot be drawn from anywhere else. It's a sort of ruthless pragmatism that makes a good leader, capable of tough decisions. During an interview this morning on "The Breakfast Club," Harris was asked to clarify her stance on marijuana legalization. The "Kamala's Just A Big Mean Cop" narrative insists the senator wants to personally de-groove every house party in America. The sister shot that down quick.

Is there any difference between any of these "candidates" that have declared for 2020? They all give the same party leftist line. I like Cortez who is the poster child for stupid. She is a puppet of her boss Saikat Chakrabarti who in turn works for George Soros another great mind. Her boss stages her "news conferences" with only about 6 or so people standing next to her so cost is down and the fake media is called to hear her words of wisdom. "Take us back to the dark ages." In the end not one of these great political leaders will be the party candidate. That will be chosen in the smoke filled back room like they did with Obama. Soros and Bloomberg and the man who is the real governor of California not the mouth piece that holds the office. These MEN will decide who runs. (Hillary does fall into that group).
