Schumer's disrespectful behavior extends gov't shutdown

President Trump has called for congressional leaders to return to the White House on Friday, top Republicans said shortly after a hotly anticipated, contentious closed-door meeting on border security in the Situation Room concluded Wednesday afternoon.

The sit-down apparently ended without any progress made in resolving the ongoing partial federal government shutdown that has persisted for 12 days, and several senior GOP officials said Democrats didn't seem interested in listening to what Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen had to say.

White House official separately told Fox News that Trump began the meeting and then turned it over to Nielsen to provide information on the border. Just seconds into the briefing, the official said, Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer leaned over to Pelosi and suggested she interrupt Nielsen.

I also noticed a lot of the top anti-wall folks both in the political realm and celebrities seem to mostly live in communities that have....wait for it......walls and an armed security service with rovers and standing guard a controlled access point at all times. And they have walls around their living space, with locks on their doors that they use.

Israel's wall is not a wall. It's a system that includes multiple ditches and fencing, monitoring technology, and heavy patrolling by rigorously trained and outfitted guards, because physical barriers are only as effective as the humans that guard them.

It's much shorter than TrumpWall would be.

There already is a wall "of one type or another". It's made up of fences, electronic surveillance and personnel. 70% of people have no problem with that, or with bolstering those systems. The problem the majority have is the concept of a hard 2000 mile wall and the fantasy that it will keep the illegals from crossing the border. Trump wants 5 Billion dollars for that wall, but once it's done will find he needs even more for personnel and surveillance system upgrades because if it isn't patrolled on a regular basis, a wall can be climbed over or dug under.

Most who oppose Trump's concept of a wall realize that it will not do what it's touted to do. Ask China. The great wall was constructed to keep out the Mongolians and IT DIDN'T WORK BY IT'S SELF. It needed watch towers and guard houses at regular intervals to slow (but not stop) the invasion.

Another thing that would help reduce the illegal border crossings is to allow them to apply for asylum AS PER OUR LAWS, instead of trying to circumvent them. It always amazes me when you whine about the Dems overreaching the laws of this nation, then applaud those who you agree with when they do. An educated person with a great vocabulary would call that disingenuous. Those of us from the uneducated rabble call it two faced.
