How to start a monster story

So I'm personally into stories where women have sex with monsters, and I have a rough idea for one I'd like to write - something with a Creature from the Black Lagoon-type creature - but I'm kind of stuck for the setup.
My question is, what sequence of events could take us from "she discovers a fish monster" to "she fucks the fish monster"?
As far as I've seen, there's a few stock setups:
- rape and/or "dubious consent" (which is not my bag)
- some kind of ritual or ceremony
- a sex show, in front of an audience (which I've already done in another story)
- she has a preexisting fetish for this kind of monster (which I've also already done, and is frankly a bit contrived)
- she helps the monster escape from a lab and gradually comes to sympathize and identify with him (which Guillermo del Toro has already done, and is probably a bit more involved than I want my monsterfucker smut story to be)

Can anyone recommend any other setups for this type of story?

ETA: I suppose in each of my suggestions there would be an element of shock followed by attempts at communication and developing attraction that could have a lot of layers. Or with the alien angle, what if he communicates via sex so she feels non-con at first but warms up to it...that could be fun to play with.

Anyway, I like jomar's idea that she is the monster. A curious scientist decides to see if their genes are compatible … Yeah.

Magic/Pheromones are always an option. It doesn't have to be dubious consent if you don't want to.

What I'm doing in my Ancient People series ( as Les ) is using magic to make the protag not notice the monstrous elements. Something akin to how you pay less attention to an undesirable physical characteristic in a person over time. A large birthmark on their neck, for example. The difference is, it happens quickly, and more absolutely.

Then you use the familiar and arousing such as musculature, figure, breast size, cock size, or whatever else to rev the protagonist up. Let them realize it's happening, but understand that they could leave at any time. The magic isn't compelling them, it's simply altering their perception.

May as well give your creature some humanly impossible physical characteristic that's capable of inducing mind-blowing orgasms while you're there.

I like the touch as communication angle. And it could be not only where and how, but also warm/cold or different textures changing. At first it's simple, but as the concepts they try to communicate become more complex, more and more contact is required, and it's necessarily skin-to-skin because of the temperature and texture play being important. Monster brings the girl off accidentally, and then they discover kind of telepathic level contact, but only while the girl is orgasmic.

Or the monster plugs in her nervous system somehow, and can read top level desires, and the girl is horny for whatever reason and he decides to fulfill those wishes as best as he can.

something causes her to be revealed, rather than be raped and murdered she jumps overboard. dolphins come to her rescue, you decide how. one of pirates jump into water to grab girl, reluctant dolphin comes to her rescue only he's a mutant dolphin fish monster god good guy. kills her pursuer, other pirates see it happen, shoot or whatever but they're spooked by seeing dolphin monster holy guy and go back to they're ship (with girls?) and take off.
adventures ensue. girl can't operate boat but figures out how to use radio. she's rescued after becoming sexually involved with fish monster while waiting.
epilogue: girl retires to fish god area, refinds fish god, because he is dolphin monster he can breathe on land for periods of time, much fucking in girl's future.

I guess it depends on how far you want to take the story. Everyone has good suggestions for something of length, but if you want to write a short stroke piece then go more simple. Who says she has to meet the monster before fucking it? Maybe she’s swimming in a lake and all of a sudden she feels something amazing. Maybe afterwards they meet, maybe he just swims off.

That's not a bad setup. It's a bit sad for what I'm looking for at the moment, though, but I might be able to make it work. Maybe his family research involved tracking his ancestry to a certain Massachusetts fishing community.

See, the thing is that I've already written a story with a pretty similiar premise, except it was an anthropologist finding Bigfoot in the woods. It works fine, but I don't want to just write that again but with a different monster type.

This is so specific I feel like you could probably write it yourself. Personally, I don't want to write a story where anyone gets raped or tortured though.

Here's a few ideas I've had since starting this threat:
-In a fantasy setting, she lives in a small community on edge of swamp. Big fishy swamp monster is the town's semi-mythical protector, and she is fascinated by this.
-She's a lighthouse keeper. Feeling a little sexually frustrated, maybe getting over a breakup. Has been seeing monsters on the beach lately but decides not to tell anyone because they'll think she's nuts. Comes home from bar a little tipsy, sees one of the monsters, and follows it down to the beach for sex.

Both of these ideas are presently pretty shaky but maybe they could be developed a little? I dunno.

The OP wanted a Black Lagoon Creature, a mutant spawn of the atomic age. The DNA of a manta ray merges with that of a sailor in a sunken nuclear sub. We can skip the details -- just make it so. Behold: Manta-Man!

But I like where he's her ex, mutated-monsterized by radio-chemical wastes he blundered into. We'll only find variants of this theme in a few thousand TALES FROM THE CRYPT etc comix. He becomes a swamp thing or selkie (were-seal) or merman and sees his lost love through soggy eyes. How can he regain her?
