Okay, so I am a huge movie geek and I enjoy interesting films (not porn). I am always looking for more recommendations, though lately I get most of those from friends or Twitter. Movies I loved this year, emphasis on the independents:

1. Revenge - amazing French action, gory and visually stunning - I haven't cheered this hard at a female badass protagonist since You're Next

2. Hearts Beat Loud - sweet, funny, with inspiring musical performances too, and a bonus Nick Offerman

3. Paddington 2 - don't judge me, it is adorable and possibly the most British film I've ever seen

4. Blindspotting - this one is a must-see starring and co-written by Daveed Diggs. As a teacher, I couldn't afford to see Hamilton on Broadway, but this will do.

5. The Hate U Give - stunner of a YA adaptation that actually does justice to the book

6. Dumplin' - any movie featuring Dolly Parton and drag queen dance training montages can't be bad

7. Upgrade - underrated and surprisingly funny action film

8. A Simple Favor - Paul Feig made a comic noir, who knew!

9. Searching - twisty and elaborately conceived

10. Crazy Rich Asians - I'm also not immune to so many abs and wonderful acting work from a diverse cast

So share your unique picks for the year, my literotica friends! Warm regards and happy New Year.

^^^ Great flick, highly recommended. Diggs is a dope rapper too.

7. Upgrade - underrated and surprisingly funny action film

^^^ Way better than it should have been. I really enjoyed this one.

8. A Simple Favor - Paul Feig made a comic noir, who knew!

^^^ Just watched it. Pretty good. Not great but kinda slick and fun.

9. Searching - twisty and elaborately conceived

^^^ Next on my list

10. Crazy Rich Asians

^^^ Great visuals and looked fantastic in UHD. Kinda boring and saccharine but had some good laughs and the end is super sweet.

I finally watched the old classic "Eraserhead" last night.

By brain is still attempting to digest.

^^^ Awesome

A Star Is Born

^^^ Not really a "hidden gem". As punishment, go to my room!

How is Crazy Rich Asians a hidden gem? Didn't like the whole world see it?

Bad Times at the El Royale was very well made and acted.

Bad Times at the El Royale was very well made and acted.

I ate way too many edibles last weekend and watched that. It was visually awesome and just the right amount of snark and violence.

I'm hearing good things about that flick.

I think me and my son might be the only people that saw it when it was in the theaters. One of those movies that slipped thru the cracks but is worth viewing.

I'm hearing good things about that flick.

Hemsworth totally nails it, too. Total asshole but is so fucking hot and plays it so fucking good that it's one of those "I'm not gay but..." moments. I was a little uncomfortable sitting in the theater. Like what are these feelings? I'm so confused!
Not really but ya know. Like that.
Anyway, check it out. It's not perfect but it's well done and fun.

The Favourite is not hidden, but itโ€™s a gem.
