Tumblr banning many pics

It is true. I have already had a number of mine flagged. In fact they are basically removing almost all adult content and say so in their updated terms

It seems a saving frenzy is in the future for a lot of people.

What's next...banning masturbating on SKYPE?! Ummm...I mean if that is something you are into....

Actually IIRC Skype has already put out some content warning's regarding possible submission or account removals. So I wouldn't count on it being a sure fire way to share smutty stuff or be smutty on either.

Pretty much my entire blog of pics I’ve posted has been marked explicit...even some of the rare clothed ones.

Yeah, I just saw their update announcement when I opened the tumblr app, removing all adult content. Way to read your user base eh :p

Quite agree with the above statement.

More people telling us what we should do and think - gotta love being treated like a responsible adult

I looked at some of the comments on tumblr. What do people expect from a free host? If it's that important to host XXXXXX rated images, pay for a website. I had a language arts website for several years. The number of advertisers who emailed me to place ads on my site was surprising especially since the site was gear toward students.

this was started due to some child porn that went improperly handled over the summer, and the glaring inefficiency of tumblr to actually take action over reported pornbots. Apple finally said "Enough" and yanked the app from their store. Android, Google and Samsung had also notified tumblr to fix their shite.

But rather than address the real problem of the pornbots, or even address staffing for handling the actual reported offenses, they put a vague blanket ban on Adult Content.

I say Vague because on one hand, they address the Photo/Video aspects of Porn and Nudity clearly. It is the way they are approaching drawn/illustrated nudity. Also, tumblr seems to be reverting to the FCC Rules for Obscenity in Television, which means "The Female Nipple" is not allowed. Since the Female nipple is viewed as "Genitalia which Expresses or Excretes" and the Male nipple does not.

Right now the software they are using is pulling mostly meta data in it's flagging, and not actually "viewing" the content of the image. So if the image has been reblogged or liked by an blog that is marked or has been tagged as Explicit, the image is almost always getting tagged as Explicit regardless of it's content.

It's a dumpster fire, and still isn't solving the problem of the pornbots nor is it really addressing what is and what is not Adult Content.

As for my tumblr, I am not going to do anything, since the last time tumblr made a purge like this when they added the Safe Search, it was insane for a little while, then in tumblr fashion, the staff let things lapse again.

I don’t think you understand how tumblr works...

When the clicks drop to a quarter overnight, advertising will say wtf...and the site will be broke within a half a year.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how this effects their bottom line.

The next 2 weeks on tumblr are gonna be a female nipple presentation orgy. ;)

Oddly, tumblr did not flag this as explicit.

But this one was flagged.

I guess they have some algorithm kinks to work out.

They should re-brand as fumblr.

NOW where am I going to park my dick pics for posting?
Answer: A zillion fucking places.

Donkey Burgers! This blows ass. Now how am I going to jerk off? Use my imagination? Yeah, good luck with that!

I've maintained a Tumblr page since January of 2012. I'm seeing hours, days, months of time, albeit already wasted, going down the tubes. Damn. This is worse than the Mods removing a thread.

I want my money back! Oh, wait, it was free

I made my tumblr page as a backup in case Lit deleted my threads! :D

This is like having your lifeboat sink in the pool of your cruise ship.
