Five members of the Proud Boys, a far-right group founded by Gavin McInnes, were arrested in connection to a recent assault in New York City.

The Proud Boys is considered a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
The Attack

The incident took place on Friday, 12 October outside the Metropolitan Republican Club. Following a speech given by McInnes at the club, his supporters violently attacked a group of anti-fascist (Antifa) protesters.

According to a police report, three Antifa protesters chased a Proud Boy supporter as he left the club. They reportedly punched him and took his backpack.

In response, a few blocks away, a full-on brawl took place which resulted in the Antifa protesters being arrested. While they were ultimately freed without bail, many took issue with the fact none of the Proud Boys — who instigated the fight with homophobic slurs — were not taken into custody.

It is right there in the article. The proud boys said mean things which "instigated" antifa's actual violence. The hate group SPLC calls the "instigators" a hate group.

SPLC denouncing you is a badge of honor.

Amazing how often the Left calls out the Right as "violent" but NEVER EVER EVER seems to manage to somehow refute violent Leftwig groups like Antifa or BlackLivesMatter while vilifying Trump for not refuting white supremacists "strongly enough".

Apparently the thinking is that NOT denouncing hate groups is tacit approval. Well, where's the denouncement of Antifa? Or BLM?

So let me get this straight: ANTIFA members chase down a supporter of the Proud Boys, take his backpack, punch him, then a bit later some Proud Boy members "instigate" a fight by confronting the people who attacked the first guy?

While I don't support hate group agendas I think this is more then a bit bias. As I always do, use the reverse test. If a member of the Proud Boys punched a member of ANTIFA and took his back pack, would you see it as appropriate if ANTIFA confronted those who did it and got into a fight with them? Would you applaud the police for not arresting them for doing so? Of course you would. What's good for the goose. Fair is fair. Just because you think your side has the high ground does not give you the right to bend the rules in your favor. All you have to do to get a sense of how that works out is look at the present administration. And just because the opposition uses those tactics, your side should not. if you're going to claim the high ground, you have to live by all the rules there. By adopting the tactics of your opponent, you become them.
