This whole thing is getting mighty interesting. They say they plan to be on the border on or before election day. Really? How is that supposed to happen?

They have 2000 miles to go and they're walking, at least that's the story the press is giving us. A well conditioned soldier with a moderate ruck can make 30miles/day. But that is a forced march and cannot be sustained over any extended period of time. A goal of 20 miles/day can be sustained for 5 days +/-. 15 miles/day can be sustained for an extended time provided ample hydration and quality calories. So let's do the math. 15 miles/day, 2000 miles to go. Works out to be 134 days and how long is it to the election? And that number is for healthy, fit, young men that are well supported.

How do you get 10,000 +/- (seems as if the 'caravan' is growing) unhealthy men, women, and children 2000 miles in 15 days? If that is to happen someone with really deep pockets is going to have to tip their hand.

Unhealthy?

You're scared of brown people lol.

All Ishtard wanted to establish is that Soros is paying these immigrants. The rest was just drunken rambles per the usual Ishtard thread.

Hope they hurry!! That's lots more votes for the Ds!!!

I hope they come right through the turnstile.. don't you exist in New Mexico and Que-ball in Arizona? They'll take you worthless fucks right out.. it's win win!!

What these migrants are doing is audacious. Where else in the world would anything like this happen? "Fuck you. We're coming in." I imagine things are different now (maybe they're not), but the blood of our forebears paid for this great country. Maybe, the Hondurans are going to have to decide how they want to live and pay for it with THEIR blood. Fight for their rights as they see them. I know they've spilled a lot of blood and maybe it's not possible. Maybe the US should work towards a diplomatic solution to stabilize Central America.

All I know is this. The world would be a better - far better - place if Ishtard would slit his wrists.

The United States is not even in the top ten of countries where there are the most refugees.

Which brings up an interesting technical point. In order to claim refugee status you must make application at the Embassy/Consulate of the target nation or make application at the FIRST border you cross. Failure to observe wither one of those laws invalidates any claim to refugee status. And that is International law, not US law.

I opened this thread to claim they were all crisis actors paid by the Koch Brothers.

But you ruined everything. :(

Soros is 88. Who will be the next Jewish scapegoat once he is gone?

I find this extremely hard to believe, and I challenge you to show some proof of that. The USA has been taking in refugees since before WW2. I don't know the exact figures, but I would be willing to bet the rent payment the US has permitted more refugees than any other nation.

Are you not aware of the scale of migrations that have been taking place into Europe for the past two decades? I mean, I realize Fox news is limited in their coverage, but surely they have at least mentioned this from time to time.

It's going to get worse. With the world splintering into nationalism, with that nationalism creating unbearably corrupt situations in some countries, and with climate change, this is just the beginning.

Since Trump is threatening to send the military, which is perfectly legitimate, he might as well make sure they are fully equipped. I'm make sure our boys have the latest in razor wire (and lots of it) to spread across the border at likely crossing points. We used it effectively during WWII to protect positions, why not do the same at the border?

Keep your rent cheque. Or perhaps donate it to a worthy charity, like a women’s shelter.

“Amnesty secretary-general Salil Shetty said neighboring countries were bearing a disproportionate burden of the refugee crisis simply because of their proximity to refugee populations. In failing to take responsibility for a fair share of refugee populations, wealthy nations were giving refugees no choice but to make incredibly dangerous journeys to countries in Europe or even further afield.

“That situation is inherently unsustainable, exposing the millions fleeing war and persecution in countries like Syria, South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Iraq to intolerable misery and suffering,” Shetty said.

In the U.S., slightly more than 18,000 Syrian refugees have been resettled since the beginning of its civil war in 2011. The U.S. has a refugee population of 0.84 per 1,000 inhabitants, and by this metric, it comes in at number 75 on the list of countries that accept the most refugees.

Amnesty proposed that the world’s richest countries should resettle at least 10 percent of the planet’s refugees every year. The only major wealthy nation doing its part already was Canada, it said, which resettled about 30,000 Syrian refugees in 2011.

“It is time for leaders to enter into a serious, constructive debate about how our societies are going to help people forced to leave their homes by war and persecution,” Shetty said. “They need to explain why the world can bail out banks, develop new technologies and fight wars, but cannot find safe homes for 21 million refugees, just 0.3 percent of the world’s population.”

Trump wants to cut aid to Honduras because of the refugees.

Fine, so take that money and beef up facilities to provide for them when they arrive. Start collecting bids tomorrow. No added cost, and the money and jobs stay in the US.

If you look at my post, you will see that I referenced a period going back many years. I still say if you combine the Jews fleeing Nazi pogroms in the 1930's, the Displaced Persons following WW2, the persons fleeing Communism in the 1940's and later, including Cubans and Vietnamese Boat People, and everybody else with
refugee status, the US has offered shelter to more persons than any other country. If you only include the last few months, you might be right, although even then I have my doubts.

You can go all the way back to WW2 or WW1, and you still would be a months rent lighter in the jeans.

The majority of Jews displaced during WW1 did not land in the US.

Besides Cuba and Vietnam, add Uganda, Afghanistan, the Balkans, Rwanda, the Iraq war, and the ongoing Syrian conflict, and you are still wrong. Go back 100+ years and you’ll find many, many other nations have taken in more refugees and immigrants than the US.

I appreciate that you have your doubts and want to believe the US has done more, but history and facts demonstrate that they simply haven’t. Many countries in Europe and around the Mediterranean have accommodated more.
If you want to look at recent history and in the same hemisphere, the States’ neighbour to the North has taken in more refugees and immigrants.

While our eyes are on the caravan from Honduras, all sorts of Mexicans are making a run for the border...

To begin with your first statement is wrong. They are about 1000 miles from the border. And the rest is just your speculation.
