Does your erotic writing correspond to your arousal?

By the time I finish an early morning writing session I am hot and throbbing. I edge a couple of times in the shower and this keeps me writing the story in my head until my next writing opportunity. Is your writing tied to or affected by your arousal?

More the other way around for me. I'll start writing, get aroused, keep on writing. It's my own health check on the sexual quality of that piece of writing. My test is six months later, seeing if something still works, knowing what happens.

Agree. The more I write, the more aroused I get!

Yes! If writing it excites you then you know it’s good. If it excites you days or weeks later it’s very good!

i no longer get physically aroused so it's always a crapshoot for me. i just write whatever i'm thinking about and hope someone will like it.

Gosh, this will sound incredibly pompous, but, my answer is no. Writing isn’t masturbatory. It’s work.

When I write porn, I am focused on devising something that will turn on the reader, and that requires me to maintain a small distance from what I am imagining. The closest I get to sexual arousal when I write porn is a frisson of realization that I just wrote something that will really get a reader going.

At the same time, though, I think I would be terrible at writing something that I couldn’t grok.

No. I'm in thinking-mode when I write.

Same.
I was actually pretty surprised, very happily though, when someone said in a comment
'Oh, and the sex was good, too. Did I get a boner? Absolutely.'
So that is always nice.
But yeah for me it's just writing. I do notice, well my kids have told me, that I do make facial expressions when I'm writing. Like if the character is sad or mad, my face shows that expression.

I'll often get turned on while I'm imaging a scene before I write it. That's over before I sit down to write it, and when I reread it I'm usually being self-critical, which isn't a turn-on.

I not only make faces, I gesticulate. When thinking of a way to convey something sensuous, my hands will snake through the air involuntarily.

Yes, definitely.
Sometimes while writing/thinking about a particularly arousing sequence I find myself having to masturbate to relieve the tension. Afterward, I feel much better and I'm able to refocus and get back to writing

I'm testing this now. I'm editing the first thing I wrote, last December (never published: I got to chapter 8 and couldn't get to the ending.) So far, I find it, uh, stimulating.Yeah, we'll go with that.

Same with me today.

I started a smut story a month or so back. I thought that it was going OK. But real life got in the way. I went back to it today and, you know what, it's pretty arousing. Who knew? I might have to find time to finish it. :)

You have peaked my curiosity. I start out writing with my brain but sometimes passion takes over. When I rewrite I am able to add to the story but when arousedi just write until the characters are satisfied

Yes it’s hard to keep the story going when on the edge of orgasm. But it helps me to be there when my characters are

That's pretty much my technique, too. Write in arousal, review and edit after the orgasm, and then re-read it to see if the erotic punch is as good as I thought it was. If not, re-write. Repeat as necessary.
