What's the hottest occupation for a female?

The hottest occupation for a female character in an erotic story is one that presents a conflict with whatever erotic wish/desire/fantasy/inclination the character explores in the story. A stripper isn't a hot occupation, because there are no constraints on what a stripper can do. If a stripper wants to go wild, there's no dramatic tension, because stripping already is wild.

But a more conservative occupation, one the maintenance of which depends in part on preserving a conservative reputation, like a teacher, is hot. A teacher that has a desire to be a stripper is hot.

This is my take on it too. I've written stories where a CEO is dominated by her secretary, a law firm boss has group sex with her male employees, a professor having sex with her students etc. Their professional relationship is a major part of what makes the story interesting.

The other reason for choosing an occupation for my characters is to put them in certain situations. For instance, if the story is about a wife having sex with someone she meets at a conference, she needs to have a job where she believably goes away on conferences.

Let’s see … scrolling down the limited list of my stories chronologically:

- (no professions mentioned - it’s a stroke story so jobs don’t matter)
- college student
- baker/ex-stripper
- rural real estate appraiser
- grant writer for non-profit environmental organization
- boutique salesperson/law school student

So far, the choices of occupations for the female main characters have been incidental to the plot of the stories – they’re even boring now that I think about it. Looking through the list I could easily substitute just about any other occupation for all of my FMCs.

I did feel a little guilty in having the FMC in Term Paper Blues be a former exotic dancer – for all the obvious reasons. But she’s out of the business now, and her time in that profession never defines her character, other than the fact that she has the body for it. And one could argue that her current personality and normal demeanor, as well as the somewhat middle-of–the-road sex scenes, stand as a counterpoint to the reader’s expectations of what kind of person and sexual activities would be expected of a stripper.

Looking back through my stories, these are some of the occupations of my main female characters:

I have several draft stories in which the main female character is an archaeologist who gets down and dirty. :D

Og mentioned at Post 25 female engineers. Have you ever noticed how very rarely female engineers (or male ) are the heroines/(heroes) of a story. Is it because most people who write don't know anything about engineering?

Possibly.

It's certainly true in my case.

The heroine in my story Tamsin of Sky Village is an Engineer, and she uses her skill. Forgive the plug. I'm still trying to get eyes on the story.

I have some problem seeing the Engineering students I went to school with as being very sexy. There were a few, I guess.

That, and I suspect engineering doesn't fit neatly into the "sexy profession" boxes. The doctor who saves sick children has more glamour than the sanitation engineer who prevents children from getting sick in the first place, it doesn't have the taboo angle of a sexy schoolteacher, and while engineering brings in good money it's not seen as a megabucks profession.

Ogg reminded me of this lovely photo of scientists and engineers celebrating the success of India's Mars Orbiter mission, which may be particularly relevant to Ogg's interests:

Female astrophysicist are by far the hottest. They sit in the dark gazing at the heavens in beautiful remote locales, sleeping in bunk houses with mostly male colleagues, all while wearing ‘smart’ glasses.

Contact Bramblethorn if you want to know what I said on this thread.

I'm sure she has a copy.

I once worked with a talented architect, who was a principal in her company, beautiful in a MILFy way, and of Indian extraction. I always looked forward to those meetings. Her last name was Engineer. Does that count?

That sounds like a name with a story behind it!

Rather like a modern Miller, or Carpenter or Cooper (etc.)

Can we generalize the original question a little? What simple acts or character traits make a femaie character more attractive? What about male characters?

I had an unusual experience earlier this summer. I was driving through the urban center on my way to work, and while I was stopped by traffic I noticed a woman dressed in a colorful, full-length "summer dress." She was kneeling on the sidewalk in front of a homeless woman who apparently had spent her night camped in front of a market.

The woman in the colorful dress had a tissue or a "moist towelette" and was washing the homeless women's face. She had thick, shoulder length, honey-colored hair that fell over her face while she bent over the homeless woman. Her dress obscured her body, but I could at least tell that she was neither obese nor extremely thin.

I drove away thinking, "She was really attractive."

I realized not much later that I'd never seen enough of the woman in the bright dress to think that she was attractive. It was the simple, nurturing act of caring for someone in need that made her attractive to me.

Are there other traits that create a similar response?

I guess becoming a veterinarian isn't gonna' be as hot as I though...

I'm fine with Vets. There's the nurturing thing. There's the hot woman in charge thing. There's the artificial insemination thing... Oh wait. Maybe that's different.

Oh no, there will be some of that for sure... Not as fun as for real though... lol

This is an interesting question. Thinking about past stories, some of my strong women characters have been:

Actress
College Professor
College student
Computing engineer
Fashion model
Lawyer
Master -- Tall Ship
Politician – high ranking
Professional gambler
Upper management -- Foreign Service

I like them to be successful and really smart.
