NFL Players kneeling for the anthem

I read no farther than into your second paragraph to see that you don't "get it" yourself.

OK Keith,
If you got to only my second paragraph and see I do not get it.
Can you please take a couple minutes to explain it to me? I really would like to know what I do not understand about this.

I wonder what our supreme court says about this. Oh wait...they said it very clearly 50 yrs ago. But obviously...they were wrong so let us force a new standard of constitutionality. My way or the highway. Fucking whiners

I clicked on the link. Went through several links...best i found was not what you state...ok found it

So what? Does this supercede the "constitution"?

So you are saying since the constitution doesn't say we have to stand for the Anthem we do not have to stand for it?
This is what I am getting from your statement.....

For me it's VERY simple.. The players have a right to protest ...
They choose to kneel during the playing of OUR National Anthem and the raising of OUR flag..
I also have that same right to protest..
The first time this season I see ANYONE kneel during this moment of respect
I choose to protest. Just as I did last season, and will no longer watch NFL football the remainder of the season..
Apparently... I wasn't alone in doing so..
I could care less if they are PURPLE, GREEN, WHITE, or any other skin color
Wrong place, Wrong time..
BYE!!

You've summed it up perfectly. My right to protest is absolutely as valid as their right to protest. Now ESPN has decided not to show the Anthem on MNF. The Anthem is a spectacle in many stadiums. Sometimes they have a flag that covers the entire field. Sometimes that flag is held by military. Sometimes there is a great singer such as the great Whitney Houston. Some times they have an awesome flyover. I used to really like ESPN but it has really turned to shit. Everyone hates them, and they keep doubling down on their stupid decisions. Totally out of touch with their customers. The Bruce Jenner bullshit was it for me. I don't watch SportsCenter. Having Keith Olberman announce the baseball game recently was a fucking disaster. I just don't care about MNF.

So you are saying since the constitution doesn't say we have to stand for the Anthem we do not have to stand for it?

No...the Supreme Court has ruled twice on Civil Disobedience concerning the flag. If you dont like the Rulings...work to have an Amendment to change it. There are 2 ways to change the Constitution. Otherwise...stop bitching about it. All this bitching does it take away from the reason people are doing this in the first place. Which is why the whiners are whining

Point is, even retards know youre supposed to stand for the anthem. It’s an agreed symbol of citizenship and common purpose.

If the United States becomes a country where individual rights always supercede social conventions, the only outcome can be a breakdown of social order, thereby destroying the United part in the name, purpose, greatness and longevity of the country.

That is what’s going on with each of these rips in the fabric.

Papa John's wrongly blamed the protestors. Their market share dropped cause their pizzas suck. People wanna stop watching football cause of this? Their right. No loss. But instead why not work toward a solution for the reason they are protesting? Oh....common sense....and the fucking constitution...always in the way of the Right.

The Constitution has nothing to do with this issue. Nothing. The issue is about a private employer establishing or enforcing a code of conduct on it's employees. Unless you think people who take a knee are a protected class...

The fact of the matter is that the protest has become a protest against the flag and the military, not against police brutality.

Dont you hate the Constitution? How dare it permit civil disobedience. How dare it state equal rights for all. How dare it . Sucks when all you can do is call people that believe in the constitution retards. Shows your true colors.

You are right if I want to change it I can, but I am not looking to change it. I am also tired of the complaining this is a personal opinion matter. Like I said it is not a law to stand for the anthem but it is proper etiquette to stand.
And fans are using their rights to voice their opinions and not watching the sport.
They see something on TV they don't like so they change the channel.

Keep chanting the mantra comrade....you are missing the point.

That is called apathy. So change the channel and stop whining here. You did your protest. Wanna medal for it?

Well said.
That's how I see things too. The flag -regardless of country- isn't about the regime, it's about the laypeople.
On top of what you said, for many people these symbols are about feeling a part of something meaningful, or ancestors and stuff.
If you want to protest injustice, there are better ways to do it.

It's a similar thing to what American Leftist retards are doing when they attack Christian Churches.
Instead of attacking institutions or venal beaurocrats, they attack the faith that gives people a sense of meaning.

You never see that stuff amongst people in Eastern Orthodox countries.
Even the most convinced atheists respect their culture and traditions.

Apathy?
A medal would be great I didn't think I was worthy of one.....
So I did say my point, and so are the fans by not watching.
You brought up the constitution and the part how everyone is to be treated equal well the NFL is not doing that, and that is part of my point.

We disagree on the line between individual and collective rights and responsibilities, but thanks for the faux drama.

Then your issue is w the NFL. This is about 2 people walking down a street. One is black. One is white. Both should have an equal probability of being shot in the back. I know that is a hard pill to swallow. But that is the issue. Fix that issue...you dont have this pissing contest

Ok that is my point, part is my issue is with the players and the respect to the flag and the anthem, and part is with the NFL.
And I will tell you right now, if I am walking down the street just me with a black man, I will tell you that we both have the same chance of getting shot in the back by a police officer....I am assuming you are talking about a police officer right? Because this protest is about police brutality against blacks.....

Seems to me the left created these divides.

Obamas famous race speech points out that there are no black americans, gay anericans, women americans, tranny americans, italian americans etc.

There are only Americans. Full stop, period.

By framing the question of individual rights by tribe instead of the legal framework which declares everyone equal, all of these fights serve to divide rather than unite.

Systemic tribalism has been increased and as a result, the left created the opportunity for wrong minded people to re-introduce the Southern Strategy on a broader scale, electing an unfit person to the presidency.

You reap what you sow.
