NFL Players kneeling for the anthem

No equal access? Aren't there military recruitment centers, job corp centers or employment centers or are these people just stuck in a house and can't leave?

Last I saw, the rightard led US Military had tightened up entry restrictions to keep out 'undesirables'. The days of taking anybody with a pulse (except those with 'bone spurs') and training them with tasks and skills they could use after discharge are long gone.

The military isn't a social program. It's an organization that kills people and breaks things.

You ever been a black kid in the hood?

Chicano kid in the Barrio?

Indian kid on the Res?

------

Didn't think so.

I am on the boarder with the Rocky Boy reservation. A lot of the young adults and families move off of them to better there lives. I served with kids from bad places who were trying to better themselves. Just because you come from these places mean you can't better yourself?

I don't understand why someone would think a respectful taking of the knee is "ignorant".

That's because it's military service, not a welfare program nor an education center.

Gotta have some standards other than the lowest common denominator. Which I know just irks leftist like yourself who think EVERYONE deserves a SEAL trident or Ranger tab just for trying but it really is better with high standards that keep the riff raff out.

Oh, look who shows up spouting his partisan bullshit. This was a halfway decent discussion until right now. Don’t you have a fire to fight or something?

Not my fault Democrat run cities are all shit holes rife with racism.

Nope I have an insurance policy and a beach house down south :D

These are just my thoughts, educate me if you like, I was not giving any facts. Sadly we live in a black and white world now when it comes to politics, there are a lot of people on the left that I understand and agree with but sadly I am a conservative and that's how I vote, it's the same with you, do you agree with some conservatives or is it your way or no way? Could you vote for a person with a R behind the name knowing they are going to vote the party line? Same with me, choose which side holds the values closer to you and decide, but please don't judge me because of my values, I don't you.

Educate yourself. It's all available to you. And to begin you might research your premises before you make them and use them to tee off on a subject. You haven't evidenced your thread premise.

Ok, will do!

You had an interesting, dare I say civil discussion started, but you have attracted one of the all knowing Trolls fairly quickly.

The others will be here soon, this is why you can’t have an adult discussion.

I'm sorry, it's kind of hard to have a "civil" discussion when one side dictates that YOU MUST worship the flag (ignoring the 1st amendment) meanwhile, not giving a fuck about the plight of their fellow citizens. The original poster made an error in assuming the players are doing nothing to help the situation, which is baloney, and a mere search utilizing google would help educate him.

How can one be civil with the uncivil? The rightist posters from the RW jerk circle are rarely ever civil to the opposition on the GB anyway, what's the point? But yet again, calling them out on it means one is "trolling" or being a "bully".

Once again, this is all about symbolism and nothing else. Funny how many of these same posters have no problem with ignorant yokels going around flashing
their TREASONOUS rebel flags, yet pinch a loaf over ballers kneeling in protest of the faulty justice system.

Miss me with that BS.

I didn't think I was dictating anything, I said I don't give a shit if they kneel or not. just my thoughts.

Because it isn't respectful.

It is the height of respect. It is a peaceful first amendment expression of everything the flag stands for.

Ignorance is making pretend the action is anti-flag/anthem and refusing to engage with the reason these people are expressing themselves.

I don't believe I said that NFL players who kneel are supported by black veterans. I try to avoid generalized statements like that since they make one look like an idiot.

There are a lot of "open letters" and blogs and sites for Vets to support the players as they express themselves and peacefully and have a theme around: "He is exercising his constitutional right, and I'm glad that he's doing it,"

An open letter from American military veterans in support of Colin Kaepernick
There are veterans who not only agree with Kaepernick’s right to protest, but also with how he did it

Band of Brothers: Black military veterans support NFL protests

SOLDIERS SPEAK OUT ON KAEPERNICK: His protest 'makes him more American than anyone'

I know this has been hashed quite a bit here but with pre season starting, I just had a few thoughts on this. I am a veteran, I stand for the anthem because I believe I live in the greatest nation on earth, otherwise I'd just move instead of protesting it. Sure it has it's faults, I don't care for some of the leadership and I think it can always be improved if we all respect each others values and beliefs of our country and leadership. That being said...

Where are these players after the game or during the off season? Why aren't they out trying to improve the situation that they are protesting during the anthem? Is it just a, "look at me, I am kneeling to cause a division during the anthem but now that it's over, I have a great life that this country affords me to get back to." Personally, I don't care if a player takes a knee or not, I think they are showing their ignorance by doing so especially if they don't take the cause further. Also, why are they protesting the anthem when this country has given them so much?

There are so many other ways to protest than kneeling for the anthem, and it would be nice to see these players actually take part in the solution to help with what they are protesting for.

The players who are kneeling are doing it for nothing else than politics. They hate the president. I am a war vet myself and it disturbs me that players show disrespect for the flag, vets and this country and after the games and off season they take their millions and go home and do nothing.

Its pretty simple...

It is anti-flag and country. Why else are they doing it. Zak Prescott of the Cowboys said it best.....You dont protest the flag and anthem.

If you wont to protest injustice then do it in a private setting.

Why do you hate the United States Constitution?

Be carful of those false gods.

The "why" is that they are not treated the same in the criminal justice system. That "justice is blind" is a promise made by the flag and the anthem and they are unwilling to stand because the promise is not being lived up to.

Here is a Green Beret on the subject.
"I can tell you, speaking for three generations of my family, it is PRECISELY for men like Kaepernick, and his right to peacefully protest injustice, that we were willing to serve," said Michael Sands, a Green Beret who is the son of a World War II veteran and father of an Army officer who served in Afghanistan. "Want to respect the American flag? Then respect the ideals for which it stands. Bullying language and calling peaceful protesters 'sons of bitches' who should be fired aren't among them.

This is nothing new. Muhammed Ali woudl not go to Vietnam for pretty much the same reasons.

“My conscience won’t let me go shoot my brother, or some darker people, or some poor hungry people in the mud for big powerful America,” he said at the time. “And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn’t put no dogs on me, they didn’t rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father. … Shoot them for what? How can I shoot them poor people? Just take me to jail.”

Conservatives are always complaining that 'the left' can't deal with "anyone who disagrees with them," yet they can't FATHOM anyone who "disagrees" with the flag and the anthem.

I have missed these Inside the Minds of Black Folk threads on which white folk speculate and circle jerk each other. Pro kneel circle jerk vs anti kneel circle jerk. Don't let me interrupt how everyone knows what black people think, carry on.
