NFL Players kneeling for the anthem

So you think being a young black kid right now on the Chicago South Side has the same opportunities you did? Really?!? With bullets whizzing by your head when you go outside?[/QUOTE

Why don't they? I made the choice to leave and better myself, don't they have that opportunity? I know they are in a bad situation but why stay in it?

Oh, so a seven year old gets on a bus...

And does what?!??

The difference is he grabbed the bull by the horns and took an oath that could have placed in an environment many times as horrible, the real battlefield. A act of selflessness without regard for the hardships.

Several players are working on improving the situation. Off the top of my head Kaepernick has donated close to a million dollars to charities.

This. Chances are good that more of them, by percentage of population, are working for "society improvement" causes and contributing to them than the rest of the population. They can afford it and it enhances their reputations. Why does the OP just assume they aren't doing their share--or more--during any season?

On the general issue, there's nothing more politically charged about kneeling for the anthem than there is for objecting to it and making a lot of noise over it. There are no authoritative national/American societal "rules" on this. Making players be out on the field during the National Anthem was politically charged to begin with. There's no "rule" on even playing the National Anthem. It's all using the National Anthem as a political football by the various sides. Just stop it.

If the franchises put some rule about it in players' contracts and the player signs the contract, then I say that's what the player should do to be paid in the contract. Otherwise, just button it up and enjoy the game.

So, as a half-black, did President Obama not know discrimination?

You are an ignorant bigot of the black variety.

A local problem. In Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore, LA, DC, NY, New Orleans, Miami, Boston, Detroit, San Diego, Houston, Dallas, St. Louis, Savannah, to name just a few. There is not equal opportunity where there is not equal access. Intelligent people would agree.

No equal access? Aren't there military recruitment centers, job corp centers or employment centers or are these people just stuck in a house and can't leave?

"civil discussion"?

He came in here pushing his "flag must be worshipped" agenda and people pushed back against his profoundly anti-American notion.

The OP never used the words you quoted. You seem to be obsessed with making up lies when you don't agree with someones point of view.

You had an interesting, dare I say civil discussion started, but you have attracted one of the all knowing Trolls fairly quickly.

The others will be here soon, this is why you can’t have an adult discussion.

Hammer meets nail.
There can be no civil discussion.
Emotion rules the day; reason need not apply.

Look what they do with their opportunities, they demonstrate against and insult the people and the country that gave it all to them. I don't deny their right to be stupid, but I do refuse to subsidize them in any way shape for form. Just my opinion.

Have you ever considered that black people fought for the right of their children to choose whether to stand or kneel for the anthem?

Your such a smart lady! No, seriously, that's just my thoughts, I just think there are other venues than using the anthem for protest, call me what you will, that's usually what liberals do when they don't agree.

I would hope the responses to you on this thread have taught you to have an actually researched position if you're going to speak out and not to make sweeping assumptions that scream of your unfounded prejudices. I'm pretty sure you would be better served to fully research your self-interests and the interests of a stable country/society you live in before going to the voting polls too.

The difference is your parents made you go to school and obey the rules.

I agree, a seven year old, does what? Don't you think that change needs to come within? I know if I was in that enviroment, I would remove myself and family from it, not just sit there and complain how bad things are. Should maybe the local government step up and try to change things?

Are you that thick? There are little kids stuck in shitty schools in crime infested neighborhoods!

That's what he does. He just makes shit up, keeps repeating it and when properly refuted, he just tucks it away to pull it out six months later and his troll posse treats it as absolute truth and repeats it Ad nauseam.

It doesn't really take stated words to reveal a position/attitude/prejudice. This is closely related to you and others continually saying there's no evidence of Trump's treasonous connection/subservience to the Russians as well as several other lines of his venality. You can't/won't analyze what's in front of your faces because it doesn't suit your agendas.

Have you ever considered that black people fought for the right of their children to choose whether to stand or kneel for the anthem?

Yes, and those black people who did so are probably just as pissed off as millions of other people. Nobody has condemned all black people, just those whining ungrateful black millionaires who started all this shit and decided to rub our face in their stupid misplaced anger. Fuck'em.

Didn't the OP just make a premise up? With every subsequent post the OP makes his prejudices more certain.

You ever been a black kid in the hood?

Chicano kid in the Barrio?

Indian kid on the Res?

Didn't think so.

These are just my thoughts, educate me if you like, I was not giving any facts. Sadly we live in a black and white world now when it comes to politics, there are a lot of people on the left that I understand and agree with but sadly I am a conservative and that's how I vote, it's the same with you, do you agree with some conservatives or is it your way or no way? Could you vote for a person with a R behind the name knowing they are going to vote the party line? Same with me, choose which side holds the values closer to you and decide, but please don't judge me because of my values, I don't you.

Sounds like Democrats should stop being such racist shit stains then....

How do you know that they're "ungrateful" or that they're actions are unsupported by black vets?

Despite what President Donald Trump, 71, has shouted and tweeted, the act of kneeling during the national anthem has nothing to do with “disrespect for our country and our flag.” Athletes are taking a knee as the “Star Spangled Banner” plays to acknowledge and protest the social and racial injustice POC face every day.

the act of kneeling is not out of disrespect for a country, flag, anthem or veterans. it is a protest (which every american is entitled to) against the racial divide in the country, and a very passive protest. the rightists try to equate the kneeling with something other than what it is intended to demonstrate. i think there are a lot of issues more important than whether someone wants to make a protest.

Didn't think so.

I noticed you didn't use asian kid....maybe it's because they don't have anywhere near the issues the black, latino and NA kids have despite being poor and not white??

Yep....and what opportunity are they denied hat the white kid in the trailer parks are not???

Oh, look who shows up spouting his partisan bullshit. This was a halfway decent discussion until right now. Don’t you have a fire to fight or something?

Kneeling is a sign of respect.

Only President Trump and his lot think that it isn't.
