One of our local pavement buggy users used to be a race car mechanic. UK buggies are of two types - 4 mph for pavement and indoor use; 8 mph for road use.

His buggy has been much modified and he regularly drives it at over the 30 mph speed limit in our town. He has a concealed switch that reduces it to the legal maximum of 8 mph if it is queried.

Apart from the modified electric motor, he has upgraded the suspension and has four wheel disc brakes.
