So whose story is it? or are the alts?

Most likely the earlier one. I've had two stolen word for word and both times the day after mine posted.

Well whisky tango foxtrot! I have two questions

1. Why would anyone steal a story from a free site, and publih it on the same free site?

2. Do those who do this figure nobody will notice?

I guess this is a natural consequence of trolls?

Numbers 1 & 2 have the same answer....people are stupid.

I suppose it could be a way of trolling the original author, but that's a long way to go as in creating an id, submitting a story etc...

Word for word, page for page, the same story.

The two publication dates are only a day apart. That doesn't seem like enough time for the first story to go live, get copied, resubmitted, and published. The publication delay is usually more than a day.

I'd vote for same author, different accounts. It's also the first story posted under both accounts. I have no idea why someone would do that. Maybe they thought the first one didn't go through.

I've seen posts in the Author's Hangout (or was it Tech Support) where an author said they had waited weeks to get something published, and eventually given up and submitted again - Maybe something like that, but using a new account to 'fix' the problem?

Comment on the second story says:

Although I submitted the story correctly under WifeANympho, Literotica published it under my old profile, tampateh, in error. Both profiles are mine and I will be deleting tampateh now that the story is under the correct profile. Sorry for the confusion, I’ve been a reader on this site for over 10 years, hogwever, this is the first story I have submitted, so maybe I should have done something differently, but was unaware.

Does this mean that people aren't stupid, and they don't suck?

Nah, people are stupid and they do suck. That is, as already noted, the default explanation, the one applicable in most cases. What we appear to have here is the exception which tests the rule.

WifeANympho - a mystery is always a good way to start a career. Welcome and good luck.

Damn! There was just a flash of color in the light, now I'll go back to trudging through the gray and damp darkness.

Or not.

I PM'ed Laurel about this...

Got her answer today. They were submitted one day apart, she is assuming they are the same person and will be sending the second one back.

Good. Thanks for the update.

I made the mistake of submitting a story as oggbashan when I had intended to post it as jeanne_d_artois. A few months later I compounded my error by finding the story in jeanne's file, forgetting I had already posted it as oggbashan, and posting the identical story again.

A different error happened when I upgraded my computer. I transferred all the stories, finished and posted, and incomplete drafts, to the new computer. But I lost the final version of a story, thought I hadn't finished it, tidied it up and submitted it again. They are slightly different but most is the same:

Escaping Cybele (posted 10 April 2014) and Limit of Authority (posted 14 July 2014) are two versions of the same story. Limit of Authority has a Red H. Escaping Cybele is a few points short.
