A recent study of Studies indicates what many of us already knew, the 'studies' are junk.

Study of Studies.

This seems to be particularly true of studies concerning Social Psychology and Medicine. The Medicine aspect is somewhat eye opening although This was explored on the board a decade or so ago with a poster named Crysede leading the way.

As far as the Social Psychology aspect is concerned, no surprise at all. 80% of what the Social Psychologists have been churning out for over a decade is shit. They've been living in an echo chamber publishing papers for each other for quite a while now.

That reminds me of the paper a few years back that proved statistically that most all studies are flawed, assuming of course, their math wasn't flawed.





The worst offenders are the studies related to our "health" as you pointed out.
Soft Sciences don't really have a way to "prove" anything.

Number two is a canard. As John Stossel writes, he got his start finding and outing crooks on the local level, but when his fame propelled him to the national level he discovered that there wasn't a lot of corporate malfeasance to be found because of the efforts they take to protect the corporate brand and maintain customer loyalty.
