epidemic of rape and domestic violence in the england

Not a new epidemic. It's simply being covered in the news again since all the world wide politics are down to a dull roar.

Half of women in the england say they have been raped and physically assaulted

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...physically-or-sexually-assaulted-9169143.html

I don't suppose you actually read the article you linked to. If you had you would have found out that it was five years old and relies entirely on anecdotal evidence. That's not to say that the situation isn't bad but it does no one any good to list out of date and unreliable figures.

And, as usual, you have no idea what you're talking about. Domestic violence doesn't need to be limited to physical assault (though that's bad enough.) DV can include sexual, emotional and psychological abuse.

Stupid post that was no news to no one.

1. I'm surprised by this thread. I always assumed that Dominatrixjane is a FakeNews / TalkRadio alt meant to piss off the Left, and this thread runs contrary to that.

2. OK, so rape crimes are notoriously underreported. No surprise regarding the findings.

But I'm puzzled by the findings regarding domestic abuse.
Because modern UK and US are perceived as being among the countries with a general culture of respect towards women. And many Brit. women that I met are quite strong, and their laws also cater more to women (alimony and stuff) than other countries do.

Or maybe countries whose laws and institutions are more geared towards women, do so precisely because there Is a problem, and their white trash are worse than other countries' white trash.

Okay here is a quote from one of your newly added links.

"John Flatley from the ONS said : “The data shows the complexity of measuring crime in all its different forms. Even offences under the heading of ‘violence’ vary enormously, from minor assaults such as pushing and shoving, to homicide. We need to be careful that our perceptions and understanding of crime levels are shaped by appropriate data, and not overgeneralised.”

"The two sources of figures are the Crime Survey for England and Wales and police-recorded crime data. The ONS said the two sources can sometimes suggest differing trends, so care needs to be used when drawing conclusions."

When you look further into the police statistics you find that they attribute most of the increase to women being far more willing to report abuse than they were in the past. Is this an epidemic? Far from it, it is uncovering something that has always been there. The big difference is that we are now encouraging women to come forward and that is a good thing.

The same cannot be said about men. Domestic abuse is still seen as a taboo subject if the victim is male. Allowing yourself to be abused by either a male or female partner is still seen as something to be ashamed of for most men. This may be why more men are killed in domestic abuse situations than women. (BTW that doesn't include women who are killed after the relationship breaks up)
