I honestly had never considered this. I'm going to have to have a talk with my writer's group. I'm just afraid no one would want my myriad ideas.

In any case, suffering from arachnophobia myself and having seen photos of that season, it strikes me that would be a good time to invest in a replica .22 rimfire Gatling gun. Rather over $15K, but it'd make the little horrors keep their distance.

I've never heard of anyone having tarantulas in their house. They live in burrows, so the house isn't a likely habitat.

My wife was driving a road in the southern part of the state some years ago and found herself in the middle of the tarantula mating season. In places, they (the males) covered the road in swarms. Big squish.

I had a tarantula in the house last year. It was sitting up on the ceiling. It was warmer up there, I guess. I couldn't get to it, but my cleaning lady was able to get it outside. I haven't seen it since.

When I was a kid we came across the road, in southern Arizona, filled with tarantulas. I came across a road full of large caterpillars in northern Arizona several years later. I don't mind these things when there is one, but hundreds is a bit much.

Exactly.
We are currently 'enduring' TV adverts by two principal Insurance firms to persuade those of us of a certain age to invest in savings that will pay for our funeral expenses. When one such, more local, organisation tried a similar scheme, I asked the idiot "Why should I care?"
This casual attitude did not seem to impress the youthful buffoon.

Meanwhile, with the sun rising and +7C to enjoy, I need some coffee.

My simple answer is the same as HP's - who cares?

There are reasons why I have so many unfinished stories on my hard drive:

1. I'm stuck on the story line
2. It started as a good idea but there was no real substance
3. It was for a Lit contest that is no longer relevant i.e. Earth Day
and
4. The majority of them are crap which is why they have been abandoned.

I made some progress on the ghost story yesterday and my reward was a night full of stories spinning off from it. For the most part I didn't want the stories but they wouldn't go away.
