Matthew, Mark and Luke don't mention it. There are no Old Testament prophecies about it either.

The Bible condemns worshiping anyone but the true God of the Bible. In the OT they were to be killed. Since Jesus Christ IS God, we are to worship Him.

Prophecy of Jesus in OT. Jesus is the mighty God, He is the everlasting Father.:

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Prophecy in the OT. Jesus is from everlasting because He is God:

Mic 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

All through through the gospels and the rest of scripture we are to follow Christ. We are forbidden to worship any other God. Here are some verses in Matthew, Mark and Luke where Jesus tells people to follow Him. He doesn't tell them to follow anyone else.

Mt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Mt 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
Mt 16:24 ¶ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mt 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Mt 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
Mr 1:17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
Mr 8:34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mr 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Mr 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
Mr 14:48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
Lu 7:8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. {one: Gr. this man}
Lu 13:35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Lu 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Lu 18:22 Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

You post all that as if it means something. Think you'll convert anyone literate?

Mariology

The Cult of the BVM (Blessed Virgin Mary ) has raised her to God or at least 'nearly' God status ( as athe "Mother of God') in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches.

Mary gets about 4 mentions in the New Testament, mostly in a tacked on birth story attached to two gospels, later, at the Wedding feast, and a doubtful reference at Jesus' death. It is not much substance to build a cult on. Any comments?

NB Mary gets more favourable comment in the Koran than in the Bible - kinda ironic?

Mary does seem to have had a Little lamb rather than a little Pork.. Coincidence?.. i think not.

:D

Well, she was a dirty little whore that needed to be cleansed.

Well... Far be it from this forum not to happen to lodge the either too frustrated into mental illness, or the far too degenerate to actively and positively participate and contribute to human society and come up with a progressive and peaceful way to co-exit.

Let alone, go as low as to lodge you.

You, would indeed be, the proof in the pudding; in either direction.

I am not Catholic, nor do I raise Mary to God status. I think she was a good and pure woman, but she was a sinner like the rest of us. I think is is wrong to pray to anyone but God Himself. The quran is a false book. I wasn't written by the eyewitnesses, the Bible was.

I always liked Michael W. Smith.

We actually know virtually nothing of the historical Mary, good or bad. But I would give her the benefit of any doubt. She was probably a good Jewish mum.

The Koran (Quran) is not a false book. It is particularly appreciative of both JC and his mother. Just because you disagree with it does not define falseness. Are you going to say that The Avesta, the Shutri are false? Would you condemn the Sutras of Buddhisn or the four books of Confucius. I suspect that Jesus would have agreed with all of them.

Examining the New Testament alone, it was most certainly not written by eye witnesses, some perhaps but not all. Mark can be dated to AD 65 or 70 Matthew and Luke around 75 to 85 and John even later, authorship being doubtful in every case . Easily the oldest new testament writing is that of Paul's early journeys and although from about 50 to 55 AD he certainly was not an eyewitness of JC.

The best evidence of the NT not being eyewitness account comes from the story of the woman taken in adultery. There are three complete Greek gospels of John dating prior to AD 200, none of which include it. It first appeared after AD 200 in later editions.

Going back to your point about sin, it surprises me that you are so adament on this point. Your view of sin obviously is derived from the absurdley pessimistic 4th century Catholic theologian and Bishop, St Augustine. He had good reason to be pessimistic having first been an adulterer and then abandoned his mistress and child. Extraordinary that this man laid down the rules for Christian moral behavior which most churches still apply.:)

Personally, I think that Erasmus writing in the 15th century and basing his analysis on Origen the Greek theologian (about 150 AD) is far more sensible distinguishing between sins of the flesh and the condition of the spirit. His ideas gell much better with JC' treatment and commentary on sinners.

A question for you. Which is more important, your church community or your religiosity?

Taking a couple of examples, Tryharder seems to take great comfort in her church and community, expressing it as a relationship with JC. I suspect that her relationships with those humans close to her are much less comforting.

However, despite her frequently muddled logic, I think she is on a much more 'Christian' wavelength than Xfrodo is with his dogmatic literalism. I don't think I have ever seen Xfrodo come out in front in any substantive argument with anyone.

TH. whether she succeeds or not, seems to model her thoughts/actions on an example - JC. Xfrodo models his on a book. She is well ahead.

My God is most important to me. The Lord Jesus Christ. I wouldn't even go to Church if I didn't have a real relationship with Him and if He hadn't told me to go back to a Church that I visited years ago. I don't care about being in tune with my Church, I want to follow the Bible. The Bible is where you get God's instructions to man, Jesus's words, Peter, James, John, Paul who all knew Jesus personally gave instructions on what God expects. Why would I place my trust in a Church when I can place my trust in God? God is the one who will judge all men, not the Church.

God is the most important thing to me. I trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe the Bible is God's instructions to us. I enjoy church. xfrodobagginsx has a passion for the bible that has enabled him to keep this thread going under pretty harsh criticism. I learn a lot from everyone in these discussions. He is using his gift. I have a passion for the bible that tends to go in the direction of showing mercy. I kind of zone in on people who have needs I can help meet. Probably why I am a community nurse and can assist people with physical, emotional and spiritual hurts. That is the great thing about Christianity. There is room for everybody and everybody can use their unique gifts for God's glory.

OHHH reminds me of a song https://youtu.be/62wW-vAJddE

Pretty cool huh!
