I think the key point is that one of the good guys was on the scene with a gun and that he "engaged" the bad guy. The predicted multiple deaths caused by the good guy because guns just didn't happen.

Another key point to all of this, the entire thing was over in less than a minute. This school was very lucky the ONE person was in the right place at the right time. The typical police response is 8 to 10 minutes, which is why so many of these incidents result in mass carnage. Indeed, we need more people with guns, and the fact is, about 6.5% of Americans already have conceal carry permits. In a normal room of 20 people, somebody HAS a gun. In truly 'Gun Free Zones', only the killer has a gun.
