What gives Walmart the right to set the age to buy a gun?

That was pretty much my first thought too.. I mean, I like their jackets and rain gear, but I wouldn't even begin to think of them in terms of guns or ammo. Kind of like looking for Twinkies at Whole Foods..

Indeed. Money for a new shotgun? Well, let's check the LL Bean catalog! My first thought was, "They sell guns?"

LL Bean? Seriously? Are the guns annoying hipster models that have fake scopes and only fire at free range squirrels who buy nuts at Whole Foods? Who the fuck buys a gun at LL Bean?

It so far below worth mentioning. What is Fortune magazine thinking?

You know, you really need to stop trying to prove you're right despite reality.

Coach said:

Note that he didn't say "buy it and give it as a gift." YOU went and injected those words into what he said and are now trying like hell to prove that you're right and everyone else is wrong about a subject the rest of us aren't talking about.
You're funny.
How come you linked to a 20 year old copy of the form rather than the latest version, 2016?
The 2016 form makes it clear it's to prevent straw purchases by you stating you're not buying it on the behalf of someone else. Which doesn't mean you can't buy one as a gift.
In fact, the form explicitly states you can buy it as a gift.
NO, you can't.
You're the only one who said it can't be bought as a gift.

Gotta fill space and it's a gesture on the part of LL Bean but doesn't mean much. How many conservatives shop there? I've been in one of their stores, it's hipster heaven.

He's an idiot. You gotta know that.
Dude was like "No they can stop someone else from buying because you have to check a form!" Cuz ya know nobody ever ever lies when they're trying to get something they're not supposed to have.

I see LL Bean is raising the age to 21

My first thought is I don't really have an issue with it. If you have to be 21 to drink, then having to be 21 to own a gun isn't a stretch and doesn't seem unfair.

But on further thought here's the one thing that bothers me.

So at 18 you can join the military and be trained in the use of guns in order to defend the country-or in our case defend other countries:rolleyes:-and possibly die doing it...

So what if you were in the military from 18-20 and get out...you now have to wait a year to legally own a gun?

But the main point is at 18 you can be handed a gun to die for the country, but can't buy your own?

In the military all those people given guns can't walk around the base with said gun and they can't carry personal weapons on base.
So it's not really and apples to apples comparison.

In addition, you can join the military when you're 17. 17 years olds can't legally buy a gun.

I dunno what kinda "hipster" y'all thinking about, but LL Bean ain't hipster. Not around here, at least.

LL Bean is mostly New Englander comfort food threads/gear for old-school preppies and their family trees. You rock that stuff when you don't wanna try too hard and you don't care about flossing for other people.

Depends where you are. Some places they shop there cuz I think they view it as ironic or something. I dunno. People like that make my list as it is so I don't try and figure it out, I just go about my bidness slowing adding to the list.
