Programming of conservative ideas seems to be quite profitable. As I pointed out before, with such a wide-range of choices, anything that relies on government funding should be allowed to either wither on the vine or adopt a better business model.

Let's apply that to trillion-buck non-working military programs. They rely on gov't funding. Let them find it in the marketplace. Let the Pentagon hold yard sales -- after they find the terabucks they've lost.

Same goes for all gov't-funded programs. Disease prevention. Air and water quality. Food inspection. Send the salmonella testing to low bidders. And the whole legal system is socialistic. Let's have McJustice at minimum wage.

The Federal government was given few mandates (surrounded by a lot of you can't do that, which they did anyway) and defense, internal and external, is one of them. Paying me for a disability is not one of them. Taking care of widows and orphans is not one of them. And yes, we all know, you believe that to promote the general welfare literally means welfare, but if you understand language and philosophy, then you know that it does not mean that at all, but the protection of life, property and liberty.

I have watched more than one use the general welfare clause as though it were a directive to confiscate ALL means of production and distribute goods and services in an equitable manner.
