Welcome to the government shutdown! Stan “The Budget Guy” Collender thinks it will be just the first of many. We’d just note that there are plenty of shithole countries that manage to keep their governments’ lights on, but here we are.

Fun fact: this week, federal agencies prepared for such a possibility for the fourth time in Donald Trump’s first year in office. It’s also the first time in history a shutdown has occurred when one party controlled all three branches of government. He did say he’d run the country like a business; he just failed to tell us that the business would be Trump Airlines.

Before this new drama unfolded, we were all focused on a particularly unsavory Shiny Object this week when a previously unpublished interview with former porn star Stormy Daniels revealed that Trump is awful in bed — that may be the least surprising news in the history of unsurprising news — told her she reminded him of his daughter and made her spank him with a rolled up magazine that may or may not have had his face on the cover.

Lindsey Graham wants anti-immigration nut Stephen Miller booted from negotiations: ‘We are going nowhere’

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Sunday warned that President Donald Trump’s hard-right policy adviser Stephen Miller was preventing legislation that could end the current government shutdown.

On day two of President Trump’s first government shutdown, Graham told reporters that he was hopeful for a Sunday “breakthrough” that could re-open the government.

But he also cautioned that Trump policy adviser Stephen Miller could kill any immigration deal. Graham suspects Miller is responsible for scuttling an earlier deal on so-called Dreamers after Trump had agreed to it.

“Every time we have a proposal, it is only yanked back by staff members. As long as Stephen Miller is in charge of negotiating on immigration, we are going nowhere,” Graham reportedly said.

Miller should put his mouth to what he does best, blowing Trump! How he he even involved?

MSNBC conservative flays ‘spineless’ Paul Ryan: ‘He couldn’t stand against racism if his life depended on it’

AM Joy regular Jennifer Rubin had very little good to say about Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Sunday morning after viewing a clip of the House Speaker brushing off concerns over an ad run by the Trump campaign saying Democrats will be “complicit” in murders if they refuse to fund President Donald Trump’s border wall.

Following the clip of Ryan and White House Legislative Affairs Director Marc Short appearing to dismiss the ad, the Washington Post columnist lit into both men.

“Well, first of all, Paul Ryan continues his unblemished record as a spineless moral midget,” Rubin asserted. “The man could not take a stand against racism if his life depended upon it. He is all in with this president and it’s a good reason why I think the Republican Party is, frankly, going into oblivion. It wouldn’t have killed him to denounce that ad and then go on with his talking points.”

It is perfectly characteristic of Trump’s mind that he would be manipulated by television this way. Sharks are not, in fact, a significant source of danger. Sharks kill about one American per year.

But sharks do look very scary, and the right combination of dramatic video and ominous music could persuade a gullible television viewer to fear and even hate them. Like, say, the kind of person who spends hours watching Fox News and is manipulated into hating and fearing immigrants or Muslims or the New Black Panther Party.

Stephanopoulos first noted on Good Morning America that even Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell don’t know what President Donald Trump wants in terms of an immigration deal.

“Then I think maybe sometimes they’re not paying attention,” Sanders said, before explaining the president’s priorities on immigration.

1. The President has a meeting open to the press where he says he will sign anything the "people in this room" come up with. He'll "take the heat." He "likes" the heat. It will be a "bill of love."

2. A Bipartisan Deal that everyone says will easily pass both houses is brought to his desk a week later. He says no and blames Democrats.

3. The crisis arrives. McConnell says he can't put anything on the floor because "he doesn't know what the President wants." BOTH Rs and Ds complain that the President is unhelpful. Confusion reigns. Trump is nowhere to be seen. No WH aides on the Senate floor.

4. Trump calls Schumer to his office; they negotiate. Schumer is hopeful. Says later the Prez was amenable and open and wanted to get something done.

5. Trump is waylaid by the right wing and tells Schumer to f off.

6. Shutdown. Trump is nowhere, does nothing. Schumer says it's like negotiating with Jell-O. At least 4 Rs also vote No.

7. Trump is nowhere. Does nothing but blame it all on the Dems.

8. In three days of Shutdown you hear nothing from either side but that Trump has been useless. R Senator Flake states openly Trump should just stay out of it.

9. The SENATORS in the SENATE reach a deal.

10. The lying filthy Orange Piece of Flaming Shit in the White House tries to claim all credit for the agreement and no responsibility for the crisis.

11. All the Dumb Fucks in America believe their Dear Leader.

Some have regained their sanity others didn't. I drew a line in the sand and made a difficult decision. I think that it's more important than ever for people to continue to talk, but on women's issues I found their unwillingness to mature into adult women to be unacceptable.
