"The gaming disorder is included in a section on “disorders due to addictive behaviors.” To warrant a diagnosis of the new disorder, excessive behavior should be evident for a period of at least a year. But playing lots of video games doesn't necessarily mean a person has the disorder—the behavior has to significantly impair personal, family, social, educational, occupational or other aspects of your life."

Will addiction to social media be next on the list?

They're focusing inordinately on the addicted individual or on the videogames per se.

It's not the videogames, it's all the tricks that businness owners and Corporations employ (intermittent reinforcement and so on) to keep the 'consumers' addicted and craving for more.

Should be. I would guess connectivity stress has adverse effects on far more people's lives than video games has. Hell, social media is even gamified these days. Get likes or level up, same same. Endorphin dispensers.

I agree.

If they put me in charge of it, I'd introduce an online computer program that allows you to post at any time you want, but which shows people's posts in blocks only 4 or 5 times a day.
It's this checking the net all the time, to see who posted which I find addictive. Besides the random endorpinic boosts that you mentioned.
