I can never understand why some stations in my area switch to Christmas music around the beginning of October it seems like.

Me neither! We have several that start far too early, one mid October and one November 1st.
Today I will listen to some and then it'll be fine in the car and when I'm doing Christamasy stuff but they don't even use enough variety to keep it from getting boring.

Drove to the inlaws, ate, harassed, then left before traffic got bad.
Went to bed early for a nap and ended up sleeping thru the night.

Cooked all day, did dishes, then watched a movie until my house got all quiet.
Went to bed at a mostly reasonable hour.

I see no point in being modest about cooking, it's a combination of reading, being organized and practice. A little creativity thrown in helps.

Plus I like food and it's my terribly unhealthy coping mechanism for showing affection.
