Mansons gone

You lack an apostrophe Comrade.

Plus, most people no longer find him relevant. He is not a groping Republican.

Does everyone feel vindicated now?

They should have gassed that fucker 35 years ago..

The world is a better place with Manson dead. I agree, he should have been gassed a long time ago.

As for why he wasn't, blame Rose Bird, former CA Supreme Court Justice, who must have really hated the state, because she overturned every death penalty she could. One of my fondest memories is when I and millions of other voters were able to boot her off the bench. I believe this is still the only time any member of the Supreme Court was ever voted off.

But he hated Hollywood liberals! Look, Sharon Tate! Most of the right-wingers here must have applauded that. Sure, he targeted Gerald Ford too, but Ford was only a RINO, right? ;)

Enough of that. I recall an old underground comix by GI/TV (Greg Irons, Tom Veitch), The Legion Of Charlies, extrapolating parallels between Charlie Manson and Charles Calley (Mai Lai massacre scapegoat).
It's a gruesome parable of violence in America and how the government's endorsement of ruthless killing parallels the vile madness of an incorrigible murderer. William Calley was certainly not the same type of monster that Charles Manson was, but the U.S. government turned him into an equally deranged mercenary capable of murdering innocent people for immoral purposes. And Calley was just one of the millions of young men whose minds have been (and continue to be) corrupted for the purpose of carrying out government agendas.

Sounds like a wonderful Justice. You should be ashamed of yourself.

No civilized person or society should engage in barbarism. It should be outlawed worldwide.

Irons and Veitch were idiots.

That aside, I really don't think anyone, except maybe for yourself, looks at the Tate/Labianca murders with that sort of partisanship.

Don't be a hack...

About 2/3 of the CA voters voted to boot her off the court. The state has always favored the death penalty, especially for people like Manson.

At the time, remarks by Pres Nixon nearly freed Manson.

Roman Polanski was never the same after his wife and unborn child were slain.

Should his later problems be imagined as PTSD?

While Tate reportedly wanted a traditional marriage, Polanski remained somewhat promiscuous and described Tate's attitude to his infidelity as "Sharon's big hang-up". He reminded Tate that she had promised that she would not try to change him. Tate accepted Polanski's conditions, though she confided to friends that she hoped he would change. Peter Evans quoted Tate as saying, "We have a good arrangement. Roman lies to me and I pretend to believe him.

Polanski told her he wanted to be married to "a hippie, not a housewife"

Maybe that sick fucker had her killed?

Just another typical Californian
Manson was from Cincinnati and spend his early life imprisoned back east. He's as Californian as Bugsy Siegel.

Irons and Veitch were idiots.
Citation?

Guess I should have added an 'irony' emoji, hey?

A couple of weeks ago I came across a cook book entitled "California cult recipes" I flicked through in search of recipes that the Manson family may have used. Not that kind of cook book.

I don't see it as barbarianism. Locking a man up for his entire life is barbarian to my way of thinking. Capital punishment to me isn't about punishment, it's about assuring they never have the chance to do it again. ever; much like putting down a dog that kills someone.

That being said I'd also put some conditions on it: for premeditated murder only, that there are absolutely no doubt about the guilt of the accused and we get it done as easily as possible. Like I said I don't see it as punishment so making them suffer as a punishment isn't appropriate. All that does is feed our own sense of revenge.

And when I say easily as possible I don't mean totally painless. The majority of deaths are painful. All we should do is try to make it as painless as possible. A bullet to the head is one way. A quick flash of pain and it's done.

Heartless? Hardly. Some things in life have to be done and others don't. As long as there's been humans there's been murderers. When one person takes life from another for no good reason (money, power, lush, etc) why should they be allowed to keep theirs and maybe do it a second time?
