Welcome back Hypoxia, it's good to see you got the rhythm under control. I get all those notes confused with bra sizes, which screws up my fingering. I played a mean trumpet back in the day. Three fingers and a lot of tongue always worked well.
Funny thing. As I was emerging from anaesthesia, the pattern on my hospital robe looked like computer keys to my fuzzy brain. They asked me questions. I tried keying-in the answers, figuring that I'd be less comprehensible if I tried speaking. So there I am, fingering the keys on my belly. Damn, where's the screen?

"Three fingers and a lot of tongue" -- just like Jimi Hendrix on guitar, hey?

One may wonder, "Why a bunch of 'ukeleles?" I count about a dozen 'uke-like objects here and I could use more. The 'why' breaks down into:

* They're mostly pretty cheap, although one COULD spend a fortune...
* They're pretty small, compared to guitars, etc. Easy to pack a few.
* I can play the quieter 'ukes at night without waking-up my partner.
* Varied stringings and tunings make them very different instruments.

The first and last are crucial. Varied string selections ('stringings') can give radically distinct sounds requiring very different approaches. Constantly restringing the same instrument is tedious and wears out strings. Kinda hard to play a show that way. Some pieces sound good ONLY on one setup. So, setup a few cost-effective 'ukes and switch as needed. Guitarists do that too.

Oops. I forgot to mention other mutant 'ukes: Dobro (resophonic) 'ukes. 'Ukes of many sizes, shapes, and designs: pineapples, aircraft, bombs, STOP signs, genitalia, monsters, Tommyguns, whatever. And sopraninos, pocket 'ukes. "Is that a 'ukulele in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?"

*snip*. I played a mean trumpet back in the day. Three fingers and a lot of tongue always worked well.

*fist bump* to a fellow Trumpet player. Truer words were never spoken regarding fingering and tongue. :D

Hey lady, long time no see. Was it the fingering or the tongue that brought you out of hiding? :rose::kiss:

I came for both, come for both? Either way. All good.

I’ve been lurking around. Causing a ruckus on the HT as usual.

Three fingers ?
Reminds me of "Three-fingered Lightning", Django Reinhardt

Pure bloody magic.

Erm. Resophobic ? WTF ?

Keep ticking, mate.

Come visit more often, we have a fairly friendly group here in the cafe. Over all the AH has become a better place since we got a mod and a few of the trolls were bounced off the site.

I don't get to the HT very often. I procrastinate here more than I should.

And has you writing improved ? :)

According to my editor, I'm much better now that the swelling has gone down from her beatings.

The boat test went well. The four cycle motor is slightly slower than the two stroke. 600 RPM difference. Not having to mix fuel more than makes up for it.

Fresh coffee for the evening crew.

Back from hospital. That was yesterday, actually. The procedure is called cardioversion, to reset a fibrillating heart back to sinus (normal) rhythm. It is not a pleasant experience overall, and I'm told many must return for repeat zaps. But it works! Sort of. Still other issues there, but I'm Much Better Now.
.

:rose: Good to hear.

Evening, Lynn. :rose:

Django was THE wizard. None better. I saw Stephane Grapelli dueting with John Williams who *tried* to do Django riffs but alas...

Never seen a Dobro? Typically a hollow wood guitar fronted with a big round steel plate. As on a banjo's drumhead, the Dobro's bridge drives the resonating plate. They get loud, especially thanks to slick resonator designs. I've seen (and sometimes played) resophonic versions of 'ukes, mandolins, varied guitars, lutes, mountain dulcimers, and weirder devices.

I suppose the washtub bass is the ur-resophone. A simple reso-'uke is easily built. Plans for such are all over the Web.

Yes, it's one of those evenings.

Indeed it is . . .

Evening all, better late than never.

Fresh coffee for the midnight crew and a DDP for Lynn.

Fresh boiled shrimp for supper and I made a pig of myself as usual.

Good Morning all, and thanks for the coffee.

The 'new' machine seems to like waking up, now I have a half-decent graphics card ( skin tones came out very well !); today I'll see if it flies.

Meanwhile, more coffee. . . . . .

Morning HP. I had a computer at one time that flew but it was attached to an airplanes so...

72 outside at the moment. This time tomorrow morning it is supposed to be 44. Possibly some rain this afternoon as the front comes through.

I think I see a nap in my future. :)

Be careful with the arcing and sparking. Fur has a tendency to smoke. smoulder, and singe.

And when it does, it tends to smell.
Work on the new machine continues, but I suspect that the Windows 7 disk came from Foreign Parts (there were some really strange (eastern) founts available.
The add-in adaptor card seems to imagine it's a RAID device and Windoze does not like it.
Damn !

Meanwhile, Coffee !

Happy Sinday,

It is chilly here this morning which feels nice as a change.

Fresh coffee and a box of cinnamon rolls. Help yourself.

I think I'll sit right here and write today. I took a rack of ribs out of the freezer last night so... Later today I'll fire up the smoker.

The cinnamon roll here was delicious. I have escaped to the coffee house in town to write.

Lucky you. In this one horse town there are three places that serve breakfast. None have wifi and all are outrageously expensive with crappy food. When Whataburger is the best breakfast in town, you know something is wrong. McD's has wifi but I very seldom do sugar burgers.

Around here, the barter system works best. I have a neighbor who makes great cinnamon rolls and I supply her with fish. Everyone wins.

Seriously, I'd bake you cinnamon rolls for fish. My husband goes fishing but never brings anything home and I grew up on trout but I'm not very good at fly fishing.
