I like to believe that you get points for going through the motions even if all you're doing is going through the motions.
The universe is unimaginably vast, with innumerable possible life- and intelligence-bearing worlds orbiting zillions of suns. Who/what counts points for all these?

My personal belief is that you get more benefit from such things if you do so with an enthusiastic heart but that those benefits are accrued in this life.
We benefit from the appreciation of those we assist and our own feelings of accomplishment. "Service to our fellow man is the rent we pay for our space on the planet."

If a woman is required by the Bible to submit to her husband:-

1 What should he do if she does not?
2 Who decides whether she has submitted (sufficiently)?
3 What should she do if she does not want to submit?

Just mulling it over.

Agreed.

I have noticed that we tend to bond with those that we serve. If you want somebody to care about you, allow them to serve you in some way.

I think a lot of human interaction is frustrated because people think the reverse is true; they think that they can earn another's love through service.

1. Kill her.
2. He does.
3. Die.

What people forget is that a husband is required to love his wife like Christ loved the church. How did Christ do this? He gave his life for the church. Christ is love.

This is just an example of how a marriage should be. A woman needs love and a man needs respect. A loving man will listen to his wife and a wife will listen to her husband if she respects him.

But what do you do if there is deadlock? Each spouse thinking they are 100% right. Well like it or not the man breaks the tie but he is also the one held responsible for the decision.

1. Love her.
2. GOD
3. Respect him

Only mid evil?
For full evil, see the suppressed THE APPRENTICE tapes. Or play Gregorian chants backwards. Hey, play Tromp backwards, see what his secret backmasked messages are. Full evil.

"The church" didn't exist in Yeshua bir Miryam's day. And proper marriages then were arranged, based on vital aspects like property, status, and politics rather than whether a couple felt anything like romantic love (a medieval affectation).

Biblical texts are filled with (sometimes contradictory or obsolete) bits of advice on behavior and interpersonal relationships. Nothing about sanitation or zero or astrophysics, alas. But many rules. And many punishments. Kill your kids if they diss you, or at least sell your daughters into slavery. Yes, rules and advice on marriage, altho Yeshua did allegedly tell his followers to abandon their families and live collectively. No more Honey-Do lists then.

Keep in mind. Lord {JHWH} is god of the Hebrews and those claiming some connection. (Yeshua was allegedly a teacher of Torah, Law. If you don't follow Torah than you don't follow Yeshua.) Holy rules apply to those who chose to follow them. Extending those rules to all humanity is presumptuous and arrogant. Hey, does that sound familiar?

Back on the rude alt.religion usenet group, that would be expressed as: It's YOUR book. They're YOUR rules. YOU go to hell.

Yes, there was a church. Jesus was a breath of fresh air for Jews as well as gentiles. He was the fulfillment of the existing scriptures. He also shook things up beyond what was considered normal at the time. He made such statements as "you may have heard an eye for an eye, but I say turn the other cheek". It was a new dawn and a new day!

I have never seen anywhere that there is to be punishments for not following these new marriage principles. The only thing is that men,by being the tie breaker, are held accountable to God. Kind of a plan to prevent them from being power hungry douchbags. Accountable doesn't mean getting sent to hell. It may mean missing some of the rewards of heaven.

It is a beautiful picture of love and respect. Nothing more, nothing less.

So?

It's old. Lots of old stuff around.

Got your pitchfork picked out yet?

Someone said to show them a photograph of Jesus....:D

So, you posted a picture of an image on a rag that has been highly altered and enhanced that no one knows anything about. It may be a drawing from some artist for all anyone knows.
