To be clear, and I made this EXACT same argument when a separate politics Board was first brought up years ago:

If owner chooses to create a thread to solicit a democratic vote on creating a new board, owner's prerogative. But the owner has absolutely no power to even begin to fantasize that trait of blatant two-facedness will not be naturally noticed and pointed-out.

And it seems just as clear to me - 7+ years posting ONLY on the GB and 25 usernames later (I may have forgotten 1, 2, or maybe 3) - it's when that pointed-out part is engaged that the owner really, really goes anti-Free Speech, anti-Objective, anti-Fair, and sadly most of all, anti-Honest. The absolute truth of that observation lies in the banning of at least 2/3 - 3/4 of those 24 usernames.

No matter poster partisanship, no one here with even just a slice of solid community knowledge can practically dispute that I've been beating this same drum for years.

Does anyone remember me foretelling long, long ago that it would be progressives themselves (who once loved so much pimpimg themselves as free speech champions) who'd eventually clamor for less "Free Speech", for more control of what is posted here (per their subjective tastes), for more outright eradication of the wild west freedom the GB was renowned?

And here we are today with notoriously emotional, hysterical GB progressives and just as emotional and hysterical vagrant playgrounders wailing need for even MORE censorship and exclusion, more unicorn farts and rainbows, insisting the GB be transformed into their wish of utopia - BEHIND A PAYWALL EVEN, ffs. All that despite ALL THE OTHER FORUMS available on LIT that suit each one of their pie-in-the-sky dreams so much better than the GB anyway.

People have told me of the good times here. I stayed out of the tight friendship groupings by choice very much as well as lack of invitation . I am glad. It’s NOT difference of opinion that is a problem, it’s lack of steadfastness, lack of care. Love of drama, and a very great lack of integrity.

Recently, in my shaming drama, someone previously a friend here asked me ‘do you even know what love is any more’. I look around the Gib and I look at friendships and have long asked myself this. Do some of these people know what these words mean.

I think I do. It’s why the toxic rumour mill and blurting and swipes at each other and two facedness is so ...odd fit to me. And probably why some took instant dislike to me. I am grateful to had opportunity to discuss with a couple of those people, as adults do, our differences and communication failures. But most people here seem too goddamn proud to think ‘maybe I did something not right too’

Some people will thrive in a toxic environment. They feed that side of the personality we all have to enjoy it. Others are sickened. If you really do not think Fata has seen toxicity here, then you think she is stupid. Fata is tough and like some others; dances to the beat of her own drum It’s sonething we recognised in each other as friends. But sometimes the music from next door is too loud. If it’s good music we can listen for a while and dance! But their is done pretty shitty crowd pleasing but nasty music playing. It doesn’t feed the soul, it doesn’t enlighten. It doesn’t even make us smile.. for done it makes eyes glint with the shimmer of mean and the mouth wet for blood.

It is the nature of the beast. The few peramiters set are those rules that keep the site running and keep it from being shut down. Many people come to the GB for drama, and there has been plenty of that over the years. Nothing new. People loved are banned for crossing the line, while those who agitate put their toes against it and scream to anyone who will listen. Of course there is toxicity here. This is a microcosm of our society, where toxcicity, love, lust, politics, sex and emotions run rampant. It is in part the draw of the place. That draw is also what turns people off and pushes limits. I hope fata comes back. Many who have been banned return after a time away. Unfortunately, if they repeat the same behavior, they get the same results. The only thing I have any control over here is my behavior, and I choose not to engage with those who want only misery for me.
