I want to try cooking bacon in the oven. Has anyone done that? It looks easier.

I have. You have to VERY careful when taking it out. I used a broiler pan and it worked fine. You just have to keep an eye on it.

I'm going to try it this morning. I'm tired of cleaning the griddle. Can you still save the fat?

My dad used to have bacon fat on toast.

I use it for frying potatoes and vegetables. It also makes one helluva roux for soups.

It was awesome. I'll never pan or griddle fry bacon again. It cooked perfectly, very little mess, no tending except to check it at intervals after ten minutes and I was able to save the grease. The clean up was stupid easy too. I can't imagine why I cooked bacon any other way.

Especially Wright's applewood smoked bacon. They instruct you to oven cook.
 
Hahaha. Nah that goes to the post above yours. I just didn't feel like editing in the quoted post after I saw you had posted in between. :D

Doing it in the griller works fine, but you lose some of the taste out of eating it the first time. I cook my chips in beef fat, they dont sell bacon fat, though if they did, I'd assume it would be more expensive than duck fat.
