I don't like 'tumescent'. It sounds vaguely medical, like it's going to be said by a person in a white coat with the guy's balls in his/her hand

The first memory I have of the word was hearing it spoken by Max von Sydow in the 2010 movie Robin Hood. He wore a mischievous grin and a gleam in his eye, and I knew it must be something naughty.

(Seems unlikely that anyone would think you averse to actual tumescence... )
