Hotwords Wonderful World of Words

I am aware that I am sadly uninformed on the wide range of accents in UK and Ireland. If only more Lit friends would make voice clips and educate me!

*sigh*

Well, as a proud owner of an Irish accent, I'd be happy to record a pre-selected list of common words and phrases for you. (Maybe even an audiobook version of this page.)

The difference in accent from one end of Ireland to the other is extraordinary. Would you rather listen to Ian Paisley or Terry Wogan.? You probably like the "brogue". You may find this of use... https://www.irishcentral.com/travel...l-language-and-how-to-understand-it-237599171

Well that's an easy one: no one wants to listen to Ian Paisley. Give me Terry's dulcet tones any day!

That would be wonderful, thank you!

Only if they're overtly sexual words :devil::devil:

Now see, you've ruined it for me. :(

I want hints, and suggestions, and subtle implications. I want to know that you're there, and that you're coming for me, but not know where, or when, or how. I want to hear your footfall on the stair, smell your scent when I walk into a room, see the dog wagging his tail at the door, knowing you're on the other side.

I want the delicious tingle of anticipation. ;)

And a few of the words I've learned from an acquaintance the other side of the pond:

Ripe

Lush

Rampant

Tumescent

Glorious

(We've already covered 'whilst.' :D)

I don't like 'tumescent'. It sounds vaguely medical, like it's going to be said by a person in a white coat with the guy's balls in his/her hand

(For the avoidance of doubt, I am very happy with actual tumescence...)

The first memory I have of the word was hearing it spoken by Max von Sydow in the 2010 movie Robin Hood. He wore a mischievous grin and a gleam in his eye, and I knew it must be something naughty. ;)

(Seems unlikely that anyone would think you averse to actual tumescence...)

Thank you!

Not a clip I made, but it captures the modern accent and dialect of my little island homeland. If you listen, go through to the very end.

Ribald — it sounds to me like what it is. I’ve always liked it.

I like ‘ribald’ too. I like the way it feels in my mouth. It has a sense of slightly unwise rudeness, like when your Gran says ‘tits’, or something :D

How about RAVISH?

It sounds like a lovely session of tender sensuality, with a very slight edge of physical dominance by a gorgeous man. Possibly wearing a suit...

I like the names of my favorite colors.

Orchid and amethyst.
Moss and taupe and midnight and ruby.
Butter and blush and peacock and eggshell.
Pearl and dove and robin's-egg-blue.

:)
