I really REALLY wish websites would stop updating.

Several sites I go to often have recently updates or changed significantly. Without exception, ALL of them are worse as far as performance and usability. NONE have become 'better'.

The latest is USPS.com and their 'Informed Delivery'. A week ago it was fine. Did everything I needed easily and was fairly lightweight. Now it sucks. More complicated, takes far longer to load pages, requires more page changes to get the same information, etc.

Chase.com did it a few weeks back for their credit card sites I use. Same result, slower, harder to find things, more pages required for the same information, etc.

It's not about accessibility. They want to gather more data on you. These sites are switching for their benefit, and so that they can sell your information.

Capital One just overhauled their online systems, they made the HTML website suck more (more clicks to see transactions) but they improved their iPhone and iPad offerings, and have an Apple Watch app now too. I guess they are trying to drive traffic to your phone.
