One student was killed and three others were injured in a shooting Wednesday morning at Freeman High School south of Spokane, and the sole suspect was detained.

“The shooter is in the back seat of a patrol car right now,” Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said at the scene, where students, parents and teachers had been corralled into school buildings after the shots rang out around 10 a.m.

Most people don't have the capability of basic self preservation under such condition much less the tactical mindset to mount a counter attack with any chance of success.

I've seen people who want to be bad ass go through months of training and then lock up when shit gets real.

I don't think most folks who carry have the training needed to effectively employ their weapon, close with and destroy the threat much less your average school teacher who doesn't spend much time if any training for the situation.

Any teachers taking responsibility for their own security already pack, hopefully they train as well.
