Just a friendly reminder to check your credit cards folks.

I was nailed for $4K. I caught it today and it has been taken care of so I am not personally responsible for it. The CR fraud rep told me it has been going on like crazy.

Check your accounts.

On the sorta-positive side, my text messages are going nuts each and every time I use a a credit card here in Houston "Please type CONFIRM to verify your usage of card ending in xxxx". Better safe than sorry, I suppose

I have Lifelock and I got no texts verifying these purchases. I think because it is an existing account. However I think I will be contacting them later today.

Our CC company calls us whenever a purchase is made away from our normal spending patterns.

When we went to DC this summer, we informed them ahead of time of our plans to prevent them from locking our cards down.

Our previous bank was supposed to inform us when repeated withdrawals were handled. They didn't!
Our account had dozens of drive up withdrawals from cities all around us that we hadn't been to in months. The thieves would draw the max at each machine then go to another. -$12,000+ before I for some reason checked our account.
Cameras showed the thieves, they went to jail for a short time. But for reasons I won't tell we didn't file a report, the thieves were released, and we lost $12,000+

This had nothing to do with floods, etc. Someone "borrowed" my wife's card.

The credit card fraud protection office left an automated message on my home phone - about an hour before I discovered it on my own. I think I need to update my info with them.

Although the automated message was really for shit. Automated, vague and just call this 1-800 number about it. It almost sounded more like a stupid automated sales call than a warning that freakin' $4k was being processed against my account.

Eeeeeesh.

Keep an eye on your credit folks. Crooks are assholes.
