Numi's boudoir

Piano 2's right hand is going to get mighty sore, for sure!

No, it swaps, actually, otherwise you wouldn't want to be the secondo, eh? :D

It looks like it gets way more difficult later, great handfuls of notes in both parts. I bet it's quite something to hear, though, let alone play.

I really like the piano version of 'Pictures at an Exhibition', too. Way beyond my ability, sadly :(

Hehe :D Somehow, that doesn't surprise me :) :rose: Scary can be good. But eyeballs plus water? Just no.

(Weirdly, I'm absolutely fine with contact lenses, though...)

I've been the scary girl all my life. It ain't no thing anymore. Wanna get scary with me? I can show you things you've never dreamed of.

PS. I got your message earlier, but I've been on toddler duty most of the afternoon and I lose my chain of thought too easily to write back. I will be writing you this evening.

Piano was the original composition by Mussorgsky. The Ravel orchestration made it a much more popular work, to be sure. And yes, on piano it is exceedingly difficult.

Hey, no worries! Sometimes, keeping the wheels on the bus going round and round is enough, eh? :) :rose:

I wonder if Mussorgsky was just rubbish at orchestration. Or didn't enjoy doing it, or something. 'Night on a Bare Mountain' being another example. :) Also brilliant.

He was an alcoholic and suffered greatly by the bottle. A lot of his later works were completed by friends like Borodin and Rimsky-Korsakov so that he could have a source of income, but they didn't credit themselves.

*eats the rose in one bite*

Well today's been more like "Stop coloring in your teeth with markers..." No one wanted to sing songs today, but I did teach her the "why did the chicken cross the road?" joke.

Cute. :)

I miss those days. Mine are more "dad, I need to go to...." or the other one just one word answers to questions.

Waterproof sheet music, then? :D

I found a 'four hands' version, so we can play it together :) I think if I'm bikini-less, though, you should be naked too

Here are the first few bars. Doesn't it look beautiful?

Yes, it should be wrapped...at least until we are done!

I have never played the piano naked....but then I have never seen anybody else play the piano naked, so it sounds like it will be a day of firsts for me!

I prefer to play it slow....long notes....not rushed....then building in intensity as more nuances are added....flourishes....building.....the crescendo begins.....the excitement builds.....until the grand climax, a triumphant fortissimo......and then bringing it back down.....titillated and flushed.....until the piece finds it natural end...morendo.....

That's how I would interpret it anyway. Just to make sure we played it correctly, we might want to perform it one more time....:rose:

Yeah it's cute until she starts puking colors lol

Mine talks so much I hear her in my dreams lol

Meanwhile, my oldest likes to shoot back when I make a joke.....and she's very quick witted too.
No idea where she gets that from. ;)

Good morning from wet West Texas; rained here last night, almost had a tornado, but it never touched down

Tornado's are shockingly destructive and terrifying if your where they're passing. In a lot of ways they do sound like the biggest freight train from hell people talk about. What I've found is you can also detect a distinct fresh mud smell when they're in the area as well.

Hi Numi...sorry for the observational comment on tornados, hopefully you'll never experience one of them.

I didn't know that. I like Borodin's stuff, I can quite see how he could write seamlessly for Mussorgsky. I think that period of classical music is my favourite, the 'nationalists', writing music to evoke their homelands. I like the Russians especially. Real 'hairs on the back of the neck' stuff in a big concert hall :)

Is it a special area of interest to you? Do you read music?
