Yes and yes. They are jewlery...they're measured in guages and are called guages. I have some but I've had them so long I forgot what size they were.

You may call them whatever you like, but you don't buy gauges. Plugs, tunnels, captive bead rings, circular barbells, etc., but not gauges. I'll concede the term is in common usage, but it's still improper.

I meant the hole of a piercing. I'm not sure the other would work in reality, though it would make some cool fantasy artwork or stories.

i think the smaller ones are attractive. the large ones are ridiculous. being a surgeon, i know that there is quite the growing trend of rebuilding lobes for people who have them removed. otherwise it looks like they are walking around with calamari.
