‘Unite against fascism’: Fearless women battling ISIS memorialize Heather Heyer

The female members of the anti-ISIS YPG militia in Syria were already badass enough — but their response to the killing of Heather Heyer by neo-Nazi James Fields, Jr. solidified their status.

“As women who have suffered at the hands of Daesh [ISIS] we know well the dangers that fascist, racist, patriarchal and nationalist groups and organizations pose,” read a statement from female fighters from the Yazidi religious minority. “Once again men of this mind-set, this time in America, have martyred a woman, Heather Heyer, who was resisting against the division and destruction of communities.”

Like the Kurdish militias they fight with, Yazidi women are targeted specifically for their difference by ISIS. Their stories of sex slavery are brutal — and makes their solidarity with Heyer and the counterprotesters in Charlottesville all the more poignant.

“We believe that Heather Heyer’s struggle is our struggle and that the fight against fascism is a global battle,” the Yazidi women’s statement continued. “For this reason, we are calling on women around the world to unite against fascism and put an end to terrorist groups like Daesh and those made from the same cloth that kill women like Heather.”

Those are not the so-called progressives that are attacking him for those things. Those are the corporate Dems and media courtesans who supported Obama when he did the same things. The so-called progressives have generally figured out what is going on with this whole dog and pony show -- an attempt to secure the supremacy of the neo-cons in both parties.

Let's avoid the No True Scotsman line. The Dems, as a party, have been identifying publicly as 'progressive' for a long time in open opposition to the neocons. Relatively few Democrats have visibly 'woken up' to anything, and hardly any of them now or ever identified as 'corporate Democrats,' despite the fact that they have been voting for exactly those candidates. Yes, it is a dog and pony show. Yes, the Borg or Deep State is dominated by neocons and the corporate interests that are intertwined with the neocons, regardless of party affiliation. There is precious little evidence, however, that significant numbers of Democrats allow themselves to be aware of this. Because, you know, Trump Bad.

Gabbard seems like a fairly close approximation of a reasonable person, but the problem with candidates like Tulsi or Bernie is fundamentally the same as the problem with Trump: They have no apparatus for governing, and neither the resources nor the will- or even the perception of the necessity- to clean out the functionaries that run the executive branch. Nor do they have the ability to elect a supportive group of legislators. Don't think that Gabbard, whatever her policy line might be, would be more effective than Trump at resisting the Deep State.

And she's not always willing to try. She joined the torches 'n' pitchforks mob in the congress that voted for economic warfare against North Korea, Russian and Iran.

But even so, having one or two people visibly deviate now and then from the official narrative of the Deep State is very useful, like the little kid observing that the emperor has no clothes. It used to be only Lyndon LaRouche that did that. The fact that the Deep State was unsuccessful in destroying him may have emboldened people like Bernie Sanders.

I should also point out that Gabbard is poised and articulate. It would be difficult to demonize her in the media, if she tried to lead a political insurrection. It's pretty easy to demonize Trump.
