So.. He's a lawyer, ex prosecutor, ex FBI director, and.. took notes of his conversation with the President of the United States, and handed them over to a friend to leak them to the press. He admitted all that, during his last congressional committee hearing... I was watching, I didn't even notice it. No one made any reaction on the committee. It's as if he said common things, nothing major, another lame statement...

How much of a Democrat do you have to be, and how partisan do you have to be, and how focused on 'the getting trump agenda' do you have to be, how much pressure is there to accomplish that agenda, ... wow

that an attorney, ex prosecutor, ex FBI director, commits a crime and talks about it without even noticing.

It's both hilarious, and sad.

Exactly what crime are you alleging he committed? Please cite the specific criminal statute violated.

It was literally the most talked-about aspect of his entire testimony.

Don't you think it odd that it has taken you and the President MONTHS to realize a "crime" had been committed.

Well, it hasn't been. Comey made it very clear in his testimony that the ONLY material he leaked to the press was UNCLASSIFIED. It was ONLY the conversation related to the President's desire to cease the investigation into Flynn -- something he had every right to do and WHICH DOES NOT constitute either an obstruction of justice OR officially classified national security information unavailable to the American public.

Here is the relevant testimony from the 1:05 minute on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Co7rDwD1AzA

You and the President simply cannot have this "both ways"!! On the one hand it's just fine for the President to make the request, but it's a violation of LAW for Comey to reveal the President's perfectly legal desire, for fucks sakes!!

You can justifiably whine all you want about the degree to which Comey's leaking to the press was highly inappropriate under the circumstances, but you are not going to find him guilty of violating a criminal statute.

'Cause as "an attorney, ex prosecutor, ex FBI director, etc." he was not an abjectly stupid one who is going to place himself in legal jeopardy. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

No I was wrong. I misheard what was said on the news doing several things at once.

If info is not classified it means no crime is committed.

I rushed into making that post.

But can you convince the President to admit that?

Who declared the conversation he had with the President as unclassified, Comey?

This Hillaryesque "it wasn't classified at the time" horseshit is pure bureaucratspeak.
Notes he made on an FBI computer become government property.

None of it matters. Politicos like he and The Beast are above the law.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley stated on his website that although the memos were created by Comey, the former FBI director would likely have to follow federal non-disclosure laws of classified and unclassified information.

Turley writes, “Besides being subject to Nondisclosure Agreements, Comey falls under federal laws governing the disclosure of classified and non-classified information. Assuming that the memos were not classified (though it seems odd that it would not be classified even on the confidential level), there is 18 U.S.C. § 641 which makes it a crime to steal, sell, or convey ‘any record, voucher, money, or thing of value of the United States or of any department or agency thereof.

Yeah, he didn't do anything that Hillary didn't do...

And he wasn't about to prosecute her. And Mueller has his back. He's gold. Big pension (on the backs of the little people). Speaking fees. Lucrative career in some law firm. Life is good when you learn how to play the blood sport known as politics. It's like fucking Rome.

Most people on the comittee are not Democrats.

For the record, just how exactly does a leftist speak and behave?

None of it matters. Politicos like he and The Beast are above the law.

The classification authority and process is set forth in Executive Order 13292 signed by President Bush on March 25, 2003:

Sec. 1.4. Classification Categories. Information shall not be considered for classification unless it concerns:

(a) military plans, weapons systems, or operations;

(b) foreign government information;

(c) intelligence activities (including special activities), intelligence sources or methods, or cryptology;

(d) foreign relations or foreign activities of the United States, including confidential sources;

(e) scientific, technological, or economic matters relating to the national security, which includes defense against transnational terrorism;

(f) United States Government programs for safeguarding nuclear materials or facilities;

(g) vulnerabilities or capabilities of systems, installations, infrastructures, projects, plans, or protection services relating to the national security, which includes defense against transnational terrorism;

or

(h) weapons of mass destruction.

*********************

Sec. 1.6. Identification and Markings. (a) At the time of original classification, the following shall appear on the face of each classified document, or shall be applied to other classified media in an appropriate manner:

(1) one of the three classification levels defined in section 1.2 of this order;

(2) the identity, by name or personal identifier and position, of the original classification authority;

(3) the agency and office of origin, if not otherwise evident;

(4) declassification instructions, which shall indicate one of the following:

(A) the date or event for declassification, as prescribed in section 1.5(a) or section 1.5(c);

(B) the date that is 10 years from the date of original classification, as prescribed in section 1.5(b); or

(C) the date that is up to 25 years from the date of original classification,
as prescribed in section 1.5 (b); and

(5) a concise reason for classification that, at a minimum, cites the applicable classification categories in section 1.4 of this order.

In other words, "conversations" with the President or any other government official are not automatically classified. Classification is a specific PROCESS by which SPECIFIC INFORMATION is UNMISTAKABLY IDENTIFIED and given a SPECIFIED NATIONAL SECURITY CLASSIFICATION as defined in the executive order.

The conversation as to merely suspending a criminal investigation clearly does not fall within the information that is even subject to classification.

Your contempt for the niggling details of the actual classification process as "Hillaryesque horseshit bureaucratspeak" is typical of people who only want the law to be in force for what they want protected when they want it, and to hell with actually going to the trouble of CONFORMING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW AS ALREADY WRITTEN.

Comey did not "declare" or "decide" what material in his conversations with the President was or was not classified. That information is clearly marked as such. All he had to do was leave it OUT of any subsequent memos he drafted.

Which is exactly what he did.

Get it???

I suppose its why he confuses me further.

He speaks and behaves like a total leftist.

No. You are confused. He is acting like a career political actor. His actions are not those of any party, but of the prevailing winds and survival and career-advancement mode. Everyone thought Hillary was going to win, so everything he did up to a point was to curry favor with the future boss. When she lost, all of his subsequent actions were not just damage control, but a glimpse into the future, the future being a Democrat return to power since the bureaucracy is 90% Democrat as is the press. He never even calculated, I'm sure of this, that Trump had the balls to tell him, "You're FIRED!"

Thats how deep and wide his hubris was.

He had friends in high places...

Colonel, I love your examinations of the law and its intent, but this is politics man...

If the ruling class feels that Comey has become a liability, the law will condemn him. If they still see him as a long-term asset, the law will protect him. It's become Imperial Rome as ruled by Kafka.
