It's well known the ties the con artist has with Russia. It was on full display during the presidential campaign where he publicly asked Russia to commit espionage against a U.S. citizen, then compounded when he has abjectly refused to say one bad word about the dictator Putin, including defending Russia's invasion of Ukraine and its bombing of civilian hospitals in Syria.
This refusal to call out the country or punish it for fear it might harm his bromance with Putin continues with his refusal to accept Russia did anything wrong when it blatantly interfered with our elections. It's gotten so bad, some of his own advisors are now beginning to question his loyalty to this country.
Even former US Ambassador to NATO, Nicholas Burns (who served under George W. Bush and Bill Clinton) has called out the con artist's anti-American stance:

"I've seen no evidence of it," one senior administration official said when asked whether Trump was convening any meetings on Russian meddling in the election. The official said there is no paper trail -- schedules, readouts or briefing documents -- to indicate Trump has dedicated time to the issue.
Even former US Ambassador to NATO, Nicholas Burns (who served under George W. Bush and Bill Clinton) has called out the con artist's anti-American stance:
"It is his duty, President Trump's, to be skeptical of Russia. It's his duty to investigate and defend our country against a cyber offensive because Russia is our most dangerous adversary in the world today," said Burns, a career foreign service officer who has served under presidents of both parties. "And if he continues to refuse to act it's a dereliction of the basic duty to defend the country."
