I just read something about a woman wearing an anklet means she is married but is searching for a new sex partner. Is this a thing that I never knew? If it is maybe that's why I always love wearing them lol.

A long time ago, i.e. 19th century and earlier, a European woman wearing an anklet was considered to be signalling that she was a courtesan (high class prostitute) seeking payment for sex. With the floor sweeping skirts fashionable for most of that century revealing an anklet would be a deliberate act.

Which ankle had the anklet also had some significance BUT that wasn't the same in all parts of Europe. There could be misunderstandings.

There could also be embarrassing encounters because in some regions an anklet meant nothing at all. It was just personal jewellery which might have some meaning between husband and wife but to no one else.

Gold anklets in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent were just expressions of family wealth with no sexual overtones.

Like some 20th Century signals used by the Gay community the presence or absence of a particular item MIGHT mean something but what the meaning is/was, if there was any meaning at all, tended to apply only in a small localised community. A signal might mean something completely different in another city.

never heard of that but will have to keep a look out then

Well I'm no 19th century prostitute but I like the idea of wearing my anklet has meaning ;)

Urban legend. In most modern western culture it really has no meaning...

I recently wrote on another threaf

About this. My friends are into a hotwire culture.
My friend likes to watch his wife when she has other lovers.
When she is looking for a new lover she will wear her ankle chain.
If guys are on the know they will mention it and start the conversation.
This is in the UK.

That's very similar to what I read about

Damn it...I can't find the story online, but it was published in a Canadian fishing magazine.

In one of the more popular cottage country lakes outside Toronto, dad was towing his kids around on a tube, when a Musky attacked the ankle of his daughter. It was attributed to her VERY shiny anklet.

The next issue they asked for fishermen to stop knocking on the door of their cottage, asking for the GPS coordinates of exactly where this large Musky was living.

Create a trend.
Proclaim that certain types of anklets (and other decorative bling) in certain circumstances have certain meanings.
Bombard social media with your proclamations till they go mainstream.
Yes, red beads around your left ankle and wrist mean you want to receive anal, but around your right ankle and wrist they indicate your desire to be buggy-whipped.
Be careful not to mix your signals.

Dirndl Apron signals

In Austria, Germany and the Tirol of Italy wearing the tradtional dirndl dress is popular. It is almost universal for women at the Munich Beer Festival.

But the way the apron is tied has a meaning. From the woman's perspective (opposite if you are facing her):

Apron bow on her right - She's married or in a long term relationship.

Apron bow on her left - She's single (and looking).

Apron bow at middle of her back - She's a widow OR a waitress on duty.

Apron bow in centre of her front - Rare. She's a virgin (or pretending to be one).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirndl

It is sometimes reported that the placement of the knot on the apron is an indicator of the woman's marital status. A knot tied on the woman's left side indicates that she is single, a knot tied on the right means that she is married, engaged or otherwise "taken", a knot tied in the front centre means that she is a virgin and a knot tied at the back indicates that the woman is widowed. It is not clear where this symbolism comes from, but apparently it is not so traditional, but of a post-modernist affair. Mrs Sonja Still, a Munich-based journalist, says: "Today people look more closely at this than ever."

I encourage my Wife to wear an anklet when we go out together . It seems to send out a message and I love to see other Guys looking at her .

I first heard this when I was at high school in the UK. One of the girls in my year wore one.

But ankle chains don't seem to have any special meaning in the US

It has always been a big turn on for my husband - as well as nail polish

Yes!

Though I have never heard of the anklet thing, I have heard about toe ring placement. You ladies need to clue us clueless bastards in.

I've seen MFM anklets advertised which I guess leave no doubt. Perhaps on my birthday list my husband may take the hint?

I'd love for my wife to wear an anklet that represents our hotwife relationship. But I'm sure if she knew what it meant she wouldn't want our lifestyle flaunted to the public. And if I got her one "just as a gift" I think she'd be pissed if she found out what it meant.

It would be so exciting to wear the MFM anklet in public and see if anyone noticed

Hi Sarah, welcome back.

Still no joy with convincing your husband to take the opportunity?

I really don't know or care about the anklet thing, the toe ring thing probably rings closer to the truth but anyways....
your red toes are beautiful, thank you!
