I know that by putting this stuff out into a public context, I invite the full gamut of responses, and I'm OK with that as a general thing. However, at present I'm working through a lot of 'stuff' in my actual life, and I don't really have the resources to be fending off negativity in here as well. I'll maybe get back to it when I'm better able to explain my actions.
Thanks all who've contributed thus far. I'm genuinely surprised by the interest and the strange twists and turns this conversation has taken, and I do hope to come back to it at some point ... it's been interesting and thoughtful, for me at least (and hopefully for others).
Aw man...story of my life...I just discovered it.
Kim, thank you. Thank you for sharing.
I haven't read through all of it yet, but I want you to know that I found your frank and open discussion to be helpful for me personally.
I also wish you the best and hope that you can resolve your personal issues.

Odd that this thread brought me back from a year-long hiatus from this place. Your shelving it is unfortunate. I enjoyed revisiting our chapter as well as reconnecting. While we may have over-shared on the "smut" (I prefer kink, like your title states), our thing was much more than that. Plus, I suspect your missing the silent votes from the lurking voyeurs. I'm certain a number of people will miss reading and/or participating in the rather interesting discussions around love and relationships.
I was looking forward to the chapters of the past year. I suppose there's no rush. RL will work itself out in time. It always does. Hang in there hon.

Ha! There's an awful lot to read ... most likely by the time you've finished it all, I'll be back on track and writing in here again. Thanks for the feedback.
I want to share this little bit: one of my relatives is an ER physician and has a number of very good stories involving things getting "lost up there." Some involved...GI-joes. Seriously...![]()
Kim, it's never too late.
Sorry, your thread needed a bit of levity given the aforementioned BS. Back on the shelf.

We don't have GI Joes here. You'd have more luck trying to resurrect the ginger

I think a Barbie would do in a pinch though, do you have those?![]()
I like where this is going. I'm betting she already has a Barbie. Did you give it a Mohawk? Is she wearing a 'Clash' shirt with safety-pinned jeans?
*fingers crossed*
Good grief. How is this even happening?
I don't have a Barbie ... of any description!!!
The only options are Wonder Woman, Daenerys Targaryen, or Nick Cave. Obviously NONE of them actually are options.

For anyone who was following this thread for the (admittedly minimal to date) poly content - this just came across my radar, and is a useful and short read: http://everydayfeminism.com/2014/04/so-you-want-to-try-polyamory/
That's a good article. I saved it off to provide to some friends of mine who have questions I can't always explain. I think one of the things people tend to underestimate when it comes to a poly or open relationship is the sheer logistical complexity of it. Imagine a Saturday night – what do you do when one person wants to stay home and watch a movie, another person wants to go dancing, and yet another wants to go to a social event. LOL never mind the sheer difficulty of answering a simple question like what should we have for dinner.
Logistics are difficult ... my own glitch in this regard is the fact that my BF lives some distance away (five hour drive from my family home/three hour drive from my work home) ... while having a separate living arrangement for half the week should circumvent a lot of that problem, I live on the same property as my landlady, who's also a colleague and knows my husband, and the situation is too complex to explain to her, so 'gentleman callers' aren't really possible. And with kids at home and us both working a lot, extended absences are tricky.
I ended up breaking up from my last open relationship because her live in gf just had a baby, and there just wasnt enough time or space to maintaine our relationship.
Yep - love may not be a finite resource, but time (and money) are.
