30% of all clothing purchases are now done over the internet.

Excuse me, this is so stupid. How do you know if the clothes fit if you can't try them on first?

Underwear or socks or those sorts of things ok, but outerwear, shoes, etc, you need to try on. Even if you have the most "normal" body and standard sizes fit you perfectly, quality control varies widely even in the same brand.

While I have never been a big fan of malls or going shopping, some things need to be done in person. Online is great for a lot of things, but NOT for clothes.

I agree that the savings are worth it.

I have bought dress suits that are worth it as well as dress clogs.

I've experimented with it and have found what fits well, and I buy that. In this case, think shirts and sweaters.

Most of the pants I wear, WalMart beats online in both price and availability, so that's what I do.

Most of the shoes come from Amazon.

I also got my sexy ass-atar online, too. :D

Because it's cheaper and often easier to find exactly what you want vs. what's offered on the shelf at a retail joint.

Excuse me, this is so stupid.

Yea....getting what you want with less money, effort and faster = stupid.

Because I know what size I wear.

Also its actually easier to find custom sizes in my experience.

^^ This....so much.

At 6'4" /230lbs it's very difficult to find things that fit me in department stores.

Online I can order (L)ong shirts/pants of all kinds all day long that would NEVER be seen in a retail stores which I outgrew some 18 years ago.

Also shoes....retail stores offer shit for mens shoes and even shittier selection of sizes outside the "average".

Once again internet to the rescue. I can get old school style DVS skate shoes in 20 different colors delivered to my door all in 13 wide, none of which you could find on a shelf.

I love buying clothes online, trying them on in the comfort of my clean home, see what the new pieces look like with other pieces I own, and then returning what I don't want.

But I do shop for apparel at privately owned boutiques, they get clothing you can't find online. It is more expensive, though.

Speaking of custom sizes. I've also ordered clothing from online shops where you give them your measurements, pick out a style, fabric, and color. My favorite place is in Canada, Ureshii.

There is a much better selection of dress shirts online. Once you know your size, you can be pretty confident it'll fit. Suits, not so much but you can buy suit separates that only need the pants hemmed.

Standard clothing like Wrangler jeans are sized the same no matter where you buy them, so buying online is smarter. Same with things like polo shirts and T's.

I won't buy my boots online. I'm EXTREMELY picky about my feet and the footbeds are too different even with the same maker so I have to try them on before buying.

Most online retailers have free return shipping for unworn/unwashed items.

Well, you clearly haven't had to buy ladies pants with a 35" inseam or ladies shoes in a size 13. Online shopping is often the only way my girls and I can get items that fit.

My sister has great luck with it. So does one of my boss's wives. There are certain things it is really good for. Especially repeat basics.

Tall people problems......the first world struggle is real.

Back when I was 6'4" and 230 pounds it wasn't so difficult to buy clothes, Macy's for example had most of the clothes I wanted in sizes I needed.

I will admit since I slimmed down to 195 the selection is a lot more diverse.

Agree with you about buying shoes online.

After decades of high Street disappointment, I finally found a perfectly fitting bra online. Sometimes taking a chance pays off.

Usually I only buy stretchy stuff online. T-shirt materials, swimwear, leggings, etc. Or if I already know how thatbrand usually fits, there's little risk in an online purchase.

I don't do it and won't. I like doing it on my own. Often getting good deals. Sometimes I find good stuff at 2nd hand stores, no false pride with me on that. Also I have that fear of online identity theft.

You can ship them back if they don't fit.

Won't that cost more money?

Question:

While you were starting this thread, did you ever stop and think maybe you're the one who is stupid?

Yeaaa....Macy's pretty much doesn't cary much of anything I'd wear and usually not in long.

Good for socks/boxers and undershirts though.

I will admit since I slimmed down to 195 the selection is a lot more diverse.

Holy shit that's thin. I think I'd wind up in the hospital if I tried getting under 200.

Even after one of the most grueling beat downs the Army has to give, starved and dehydrated I was still "overweight" at 212lbs. Granted I went to the hospital for the foot rot, dysentery and worms but I was still dangerously thin.

If I started lifting all day every day right now, I could be north of 250 by Halloween.

Agree with you about buying shoes online.

My only exception is boots....I like redwings, proper fit, good quality, no problem tossing them a few hundred bucks for a pair every couple decades.

Jeans that are just that much too short suck! The struggle is real!

I'm long in the torso and wide in the shoulders, it's practically impossible for me to find casual shirts and T-shirts that aren't too short without going online.

The only way I can walk into a store and get a good fitting shirt is to go formal and have one tailored or go work uniform style and get those "long" sizes.

Shoes and pants, no. Everything else short of a fitted suit, why not?
