On Fox and Friends Gingrich rails against rumors Seth Rich was assassinated

I feel sorry for americans... the sheer volume and layers of bullshit you are exposed to seriously compromises your ability to enjoy your lives.

Fox News announced Tuesday it had retracted a story published last week that reignited conspiracy theories around the unsolved killing of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich, whose family demanded an apology from the conservative news network.

Later Tuesday, the conspiracy's most prominent proponent, Fox News' Sean Hannity, announced on his show that he would stop discussing the case "for now." It was a major back-down for a prominent host who had used his Twitter account earlier to vow he would never be silenced by "Liberal Fascism."

Bwahahahaha! :D

The fact that Sean Hannity has any viewers should alarm all intelligent Americans.

Funny how one particular flashpoint on this particular whodunnit quenches the entire "conspiracy theory," but no evidence at all uncovered in a probe with no specific allegation of who or what was "dun" justifies endless speculation on Russiagate..

"Whar thar's smoke thar's a fire, I tell you!!"

Meanwhile an actual dead body...shot in the back.**** level DNC staffer (Voter Expansion Data Director)...not robbed...

"Nothing to see here...move along..."

Sorry DNC, not Clinton.

He was Voter Expansion Data Director for the entire DNC. A nerd. Working for the DNC. That got hacked. By someone nerdy, and trusted by john Podesta.

To be fair, maybe the DNC passed out the title "Director" to low level staffers in lieu of paying them a living way.

And while the latter was a ratings grabber for a nutty TV yakker, the former inspired the Acting Attorney General to name a Special Counsel. See the difference now?

At the time of his death, Rich was the Voter Expansion Data Director at the DNC, where he had been employed for two years and had worked on a computer application to help voters locate polling stations.

ooh real high level stuff!

On May 19, 2017, an attorney for the Rich family sent a cease and desist letter to Wheeler.[14]

Fox News issued a retraction of the story on May 23, 2017 and removed the original article, and did not apologize or specify what went wrong or how it did so.[62][63][64][65] After this, Sean Hannity, one of Fox News's biggest stars, who pushed the theory, remained unapologetic, saying "I retracted nothing" and "I am not going to stop trying to find the truth."[66][61][65] In their May 23 statement, Fox News said,

The article was not initially subjected to the high degree of editorial scrutiny we require for all our reporting. Upon appropriate review, the article was found not to meet those standards and has since been removed.[66]

The Poynter Institute said that the retraction was "woefully inadequate", noting that,

The two-paragraph statement, published under the "politics" category on the network's website, doesn't say what about Fox News' reporting was inaccurate (that its original source backed away from his claim that he had information showing Rich was in touch with Wikileaks). It doesn't replace the bad information with accurate information (that police believe Rich was murdered during a robbery). It doesn't specify who in the organization is being held accountable. And the correction doesn't appear on the original story to explain why it was removed, nor has it been shared in the on-air forums where the inaccurate story was promoted. As of this writing, the original URL displays a 404 error. Fox News isn't even acknowledging to people who click the link to the original story that it's been retracted.[64]

On May 23, 2017, Sean Hannity stated on his television program that he would cease discussing the issue.[67] Hannity said his decision to cease commenting on the matter was related to the family of the murder victim: "Out of respect for the family's wishes, for now, I am not discussing the matter at this time."[67] In the same statement wherein he promised to cease discussion of the topic, he vowed to pursue facts in the future: "I promise you I am not going to stop trying to find the truth."[67]

*but now the conspiracy theory has lodged itself in the ignorant tiny brained ones and will continue to have a life of it's own*

I find it hard to believe the machine got to Fox, but if it did, that says a lot.

Not saying I like Fox or respect or trust them, but they're the GOP propaganda arm and they would be unlikely to pull a story without extensive power plays.
