On Fox and Friends Gingrich rails against rumors Seth Rich was assassinated

And you know that how?

Because the homicide does not fit the definition of either.

I didn't bother to say so, but it's also clearly not an attempted robbery either. No one blitzes their victim from behind, shoots them and then neglects to rob them if that was the intent.

What's your theory here? The guy had the audacity to shoot a human being, but didn't have the gumption to reach for the wallet, watch, or cellphone?

Absent-minded?

Ok with discharging a noisy firearm, but nervpus about some seeing him rifling the pockets of a prone victim?

I'd take that claim with a grain of salt. Lots of people claimed to be in a conspiracy with Lee Harvey Oswald for attention.

If he is telling the truth then he knows it was likely that someone was willing to murder over this. Coming forward and exposing himself would be foolhardy.

maybe

maybe not

they should ask him to show them what he has

Seriously? An obvious, intentional homicide with no sign of a struggle in not an obvious, premeditated homicide without "several" eyewitnesses, or a gun that has "documented links to a hitman?"

"HItman" that are "documented" are in jail. For life. "Hitmen" use and discard firearms. They do not keep a "documented" history of its use.

Like I said on one of these threads, if it was a hired hit, the shooter was either out of the country or dead within hours. Pros don't stay around. And pros hired by pros are expendable to protect the one who hired.

CLEARLY not a robbery because NOTHING WAS TAKEN.

However, it would not be the first time a thug panicked, shot the victim, then scurried off empty handed.

I have seen no news reports saying that Rich was shot in the back and nothing was taken. Can you link them?

Maybe someone was coming and the killer got spooked.

Also, there is no proof whatsoever that Rich leaked anything to Wikileaks, yet Gingrich and his ill ilk keep repeating that as an established fact.

Death and aftermath
On Sunday, July 10, 2016, Rich was shot about a block from his home in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington, D.C.[19][20][21][22] Police were alerted to gunfire at 4:20 am by an automated gunfire locator called ShotSpotter.[22][23] Rich was found conscious but later died in the hospital.[20] Newsweek reported that police said he may have been killed in an attempted robbery and that the neighborhood had recently been plagued by robberies. Although Rich's watch strap was torn, nothing had apparently been taken from him.[19] According to police, he died from two shots to the back.[19][21][24] Rich's girlfriend told NBC Washington, "There had been a struggle. His hands were bruised, his knees are bruised, his face is bruised, and yet he had two shots to his back, and yet they never took anything... They didn't finish robbing him, they just took his life."[25] The Metropolitan Police Department (MPDC) posted its customary reward of $25,000 for information about the death.[2] Republican lobbyist Jack Burkman then stated that he was offering a $105,000 reward in addition to those announced by the DCPD and WikiLeaks.[26][27][28]

So not "clearly", but speculation

CLEARLY not a robbery because NOTHING WAS TAKEN.
Of course there are never any botched robberies.

So, you have any evidence he was assassinated like Gingrich claims?

Assassanation is an act. One does not need to know what motivates an assassan.

You have less (specifically no) evidence it is a "botched robbery."

By definition you have to at least attempt to TAKE something for it to be a robbery. There is no statute for "botched robbery." Since the victim is dead, no one alive can assert that it was robbery. You are clearly speculating that the murderer was intending to rob the victim when all evidence suggests that robbery was neither the motive, nor even an afterthought since they DIDNT BOTHER to take anything from the incapacitated, dying victim.

Again. Who worries about being seen taking a wallet when they are unconcerned with the noise of fatally shooting someone?

So you know better than the local police?

Someone who knows there's no witness to a shooting but sees someone coming who'd be a witness to stealing from a body where there was just a shot.

In any case, I'm not saying what it was, but apparently Gingrich knows exactly what happened.
Only the killer could know exactly what happened, Gingrich must be the killer.

Ooh! An unsolved murder in D.C. And what do you know he worked as a politico. Coincidence?

Well, both Fox and the "investigator" who started the assassination BS have retracted their stories.

It's interesting that no one noticed the actual point of the OP, that actual facts about perjury, monetary payments, business dealings and inadvertently releasing highly classified information from the need to brag are all "fake news" while rumors started for political purposes are absolute truth.

At least in the minds of Gingrich and his ilk.

The OP was nothing more than your personal opinion guided by your dislike of FOX, busybody and anyone not on your team...

I've had to point this out several times this morning. In his brilliant study of mass movements and true believers, Eric Hoffer lays out the case that it is not the righteousness of a noble cause, or its reward, but the uplifting identification with something larger to those who feel insignificant or alienated from larger success in life. The hallmarks of the true believer, and Hoffer makes no judgement on the right or wrong of any mass movement be it the church, the Nazis or Uncle Joe Stalin, is rabid obedience to the cause, the casting aside of any formerly held contrary beliefs (think the reformed smoker or the born-again Christian who cannot shut up about how glorious their future is going to be compared to their task*) and a willingness to sacrifice the self in the name of the cause. This is why I doubt that 72 virgins/heaven is the big draw, I submit that it is the desire to die in the service of something bigger than the individual to establish that they were the "real" harbingers of the movement's vanguard and will be remembered as a hero once Utopia is established thusly gaining that accolade and fame they were unable to garner in life.

* and this too, is one of the hallmarks of the mass movement true believer, the past was injustice, the present not much better, but because of the movement, the future will be glorious. If a movement is ever sated, then it begins a slow death and goes into consolidating gain mode.

Why the sarcasm quotes for a licenced private investigator who is also a retired homicide detective in the jurisdiction where this happened? Is it because he is black that you dismiss his professional experience?

The only portion of the story being retracted is the story that the FBI had examined Rich's laptop. That part being not true was known before you started this thread. Not the part where Rich was shot in the back, and not robbed which is true and backed by DC police reports.
