Music evolved as a byproduct of boredom. That's why there is so much music coming out of Canada. :)

That and drumming was once used as a form of communication.

First of all, music couldn't have evolved, but with that said, The birds in the wild evolved music? That's not possible. They aren't exposed to music.

No one does. There is nothing to understand; music as such encodes no semantic information. One can understand music theory, but that's not the same thing. One can learn a musical constructed language like Solresol, but that's not the same thing. All one can do is appreciate music.

You said "All one can do is appreciate music". That's not true. You can compose music, interpret music, dance is a form of musical interpretation. You can also recite music and some musicians are better than others. There is an understanding of music, even if we can't fully understand it. The point is that music could not have evolved in animals and even in humans. It's an innate ability which is designed to express emotion and also a means to worship God.

It is not an innate ability. You have to practice to be worth a damn, as a composer, performer or listener.

Another thing: I have never heard one note of music composed or performed by God Himself. Maybe He doesn't practice.

It's still an innate ability. You have to practice to be worth anything in sports either. Some people have more potential than others. Some people can't understand music well and have no rythem, sing off key, clap off beat.

It's a real thing that the mind understands well or it doesn't.

It's talent can be inherited.
