Thanks. I've been popping in and out quite a bit the past few months.
There's so many new faces. I don't know a lot of ppl here anymore.

I've seen you post a few times here and there. I go through varying phases here of posting frequently or taking a few days or so off, but I always come back.

It seems as much as this place changes, it still stays the same.

Hey Luk!

A vegetarian co-worker was trying to talk me into turning vegetarian, so I told her about the first time I met a vegetarian, back in junior high school.

We had a cool new teacher from the city, who let us call him Mr. J, which was so cool back in the 1970s. He was a young, kind of hippie English teacher. Now one day in class we learned he was a vegetarian, we were all amazed he didn't eat meat. So he starts talking about how we wouldn't eat meat either if we had to kill our animals for food. So he asks us to raise our hands if we thought we could kill an animal, slaughter it, and eat it.

Almost the entire class raised their hand. But Mr. J immediately focused on Shelly sitting in the front row. Now Shelly was a girlie girl, hair perfect, nails perfect, dressed sharp. So Mr. J walks over and asks Shelly if she could really thought she could kill and slaughter an animal.

I'll never forget when Shelly responded, "Mr. J, remember where you are. This is farm country, I live on a farm, a lot of kids in this class live on farms and those that don't, hunt. It's part of life here."

I can see how one might think that, but no, this is a year's accumulation that was exposed when my nephew decided to have all my Figments watch a movie with him.
